I admit to writing to one relative but not two! Shame on me for not being a "good" witness like Mouthy!! I guess I cared more about getting my time in than I did about the people. Come to think of it, I could have had twice the time in service if I'd thought of writing to two relatives!!! How stupid I was!!!

The Mystery Person of Luke 9:49, WTBTS Friend of Foe?
by Valis in"and john answered and said, 'master, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we forbade him because he does not follow with us.
' and jesus said to him, 'do not forbid him, for he who is not against us is for us'.
" (luke 9:49,50, nkj).

Very interesting thread, guys & gals! Never thought of it before! Come to think of it, we weren't allowed to think of it before! And if we did, we'd be told not to worry about, because the light would get brighter in time! Mouthy knows all about the light getting brighter re 1914.

If You DO GO to Meetings, You Might Die!
by metatron inthe watchtower ( and recent kingdom ministry) love to threaten death.
if you don't attend meetings.. however, i have known about a number of witnesses who died while at the meetings.
or attending the assemblies.

JWrobot, of course you're not allowed to tell the truth! You have to be evasive, and use speculation. At the least you should have given the wrong numbers! Then you could have made a back-call, or return visit, or whatever they call it now, and told your relatives that there's been "new light".

Do you know?
by Schizm ina certain jw doesn't believe in the 1914 doctrine any longer.
this, of course, naturally gives rise to certain serious problems.
for example, how can this person now continue to participate in field service activities and make use of the publications produced by the wts?

Yes, they didn't want Jesus to have a beard because then the elders wouldn't be able to tell the brothers that they couldn't wear beards, at a time when beards became fashionable in the 60's and onward. How could they tell bearded brothers they looked worldly if Jesus had a beard. But then "new light".... presto, Jesus has a beard! Does anyone know if brothers with beards can be MS's or Elders now? Or is that another "new light" waiting to dawn?
Does anyone remember the furor over brothers wearing coloured shirts? It seems they got the "new light" on that, but the Mormons are still looking for it.

You'll die if you don't go to meetings
by Bonnie_Clyde inlast sunday's watchtower admits (p. 17) that "we are not under the mosaic law.
" but in the next paragraph it says that just as the tithing arrangement was not optional for the israelites, meeting attendance is also not optional for christians.
the first page of the february 2004 kingdom ministry tells us why.

Yes, Shamus, I used to think they were worse than dead because they would have no resurrection! Talk about Judge Lollydawdle!!! No more sitting on the bench for me! Someday I hope to sit around the Throne!

Amen to that Worldlygirl. Maverick, they haven't taken out the Holy Spirit in the baptism talk, but they have definitely added the WTS. Tsk, tsk, tsk. The GB must be behind in their Bible reading of Revelation where it says that nothing should be added or taken away.
Yes, Undercover, the GB's like the Pharisees.

I Like Huxley's suggestion - tract origami for beginners!
I thought this might be a serious thread. For anyone else who also thought so - taking classes in anything that interests you will help improve social skills. It's a starting point in making friends with those who have the same interests.
