I know for a fact at each Assembly my Mother would put in 200 to 2000 depending on what we had.
There goes that "look" again.......
Never got that cold in Hell for me.

When I was in it was typically $5 to $10 dollars a month. I wasn't in very long so the most they probably got out of me was $200 max.
Now that I'm out, my wife goes alone. but, she never gives them any money and whenever I want a copy of the latest CD, I just "encourage" her to borrow one and I install and zip.
Just my small way of helping spread the "good news".

What causes most JW's to lose the ability to reason?
by XBEHERE intake a look at this wt excerpt from another thread that i copied and pasted:.
*** g93 3/22 why so many false alarms?
jehovah?s witnesses, in their eagerness for jesus?

Funny, they're not "prophesying" in the name of J, so that make it OK.
But if you disagree with their non-inspired "interpretation" you're DF'd. wtf?
...and that's the bottom line right there....

Spies in the congregation
by chappy inthe article that bothered me the most was when they said if you work in a doctors office you must report to the elders if a brother or sister comes to the doctor with a (questionable) problem..
i read this comment by galaxy7 in an older post, never heard this before.
does anyone know which publication?.

But when there seems to be serious wrongdoing, should a loyal Christian out of love of God and his fellow Christian reveal what he knows so that the apparent sinner can receive help and the congregation?s purity be preserved?
It sure would be interesting to see a JW reconcile this with newfound knowledge that their beloved wh-organization was doing the horizontal humpty-dance with the UN for 10 years.

Methods of "reproving"??
by wordlywife inwell all, my dear step-daughter is going to be or has been reproved.
apparently she was at a party with unsavory things going on, and she confessed all to an elder.
sounds as though she won't be allowed to pioneer or get to go to pioneer school.

Such a sad state of affairs to sit back and watch what could be a totally productive life go to waste based upon fear of life in the WT's FOG (fear, obligation, guilt).

I have a relative that does that. Her husband insists on X-mas and though she has no qualms about celebrating any other holiday, she takes great pains to go into JW mode and bitch and whine about it and keep secret that they have a X-mas tree up. It slipped out while she had a bunch of guests over to her house for , of all things, a new years eve celebration.
I could see the look on her face when her JW sister gave her "the look".
She looked like she wished that the ground would swallow her up.

I don't think the realization of this has hit my JW relatives yet. They've mentioned absolutely nothing about it.
I'm being somewhat careful not to since I've made it clear that I'm not interested in anything JW.
If I did, I know I'd be sure to get "the look".

I'm thinking of going back
by Smoky inover the weekend my cousin came to visit from mi, and her husband (elder) started to do his shepperding thing with me (have not attended meetings for over 1 year), and made a compeling argument about how the holy spirit is given by god only if you attend meeting and go to field service...etc, etc.
and the whole "faith and works" issue.
it was a different angle that i have never heard before, about me being a "instrument or tool" of god...blah, blah, blah... anyhow, it got me thinking about going back...especially when things are not going to well for me right now... (he said its because i left jehovah).. how can i convince myself that this is not true?

You coulld say i am unstable since my divorce 08/03, battaling depression, alcoholism, low self esteem, self loathing, and occasional suicide. So of course, going back seems like a quick fix.
If you went back now using these issues as reasons, they'll use you as a poster child example to others of what happens when you leave "jehovah and his organization."
The solution to these problems lie with professional counseling and realizing your own self-worth, not returning to the WT never ending treadmill of meetings, service and the constant drone of do more...do more.....CAN YOU DO MORE !!!!!

I wonder why he didn't just DA?
He's playing the game.
It's easier to be accepted back into the JW fold a few months later if you're DF'd for doing something wrong rather than just telling them all to kiss off.
