Which site is that.....because if it's belief.net JW Challenge and Critique, that place is full of the most brain-dead, follow the crooked leader, Wt apologetic dubs I've ever came across. I think I've seen your moniker there. I usually post there as Yeah-right.
What I particularly find interesting is the way a certain poster there who posts as oldgrm, who delights in dodging and clouding issues with their incessant "cut and paste"from the WT articles postings.

We are not a cult!
by Nosferatu in"we are not a cult!".
yeah, we've heard this one before.
how did/do the jws back up this statement?
-

The only explanation that I remember being given was that cults worshipped or followed a man.
But they in fact do follow a man, or rather a group of men. It matters not how they sugarcoat the real "truth". Just the other day, my sister in law was telling me about how they're rescheduling all the meetings in the hall to accommodate the arrival and visit of their CO.
And how they do like to talk about how everything that comes from the Soceity is so good.

Why do I have to move 3000 miles away to get away from this religion?
by DIAMOND inthat is the question.
i am literally moving from the east coast to the west coast just so i can lose my religion.
is that nuts?

Sounds to me you could be jumping out of the frying pan and right into the fire. If your wife really wants to "save" her relatives that means she'll be a "good Dub" back home.
I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking this...
I don't think she's as much ready to go back there to save her family as it is to go back there so that she'll have a support system in place just in case she decides to lose "you".
I've found JWs to be quite clever at using the cover of claiming to do something for the benefit of others when all they're really doing is positioning the situation to benefit themselves.
Watch your back!!!

Are witnesses intellectual showoffs?
by JH inthe jehovah witnesses are a religion, and that's what they should talk about.
why do they have to talk about so much more than religion.
after all, they aren't doctors or engineers, chemists, they are bible students.. i never understood why they published the awake magazine.

I wouldn't call them intellectual showoffs.....more like intellectual snotnoses. In fact, intellectual is not the way I'd describe them at all, since all they do is spout out the latest Watchtower nonsense.
I was in a conversation with my wife and she just couldn't get past the thought that you should be doing something simply because it's the right thing to do and not because it's what the soceity "said" to do.

Derogatory Term...HBH
by 95stormfront ini was recently over a relative's house when i heard one of their pioneer dub guest refer to one of her return visits as hbh.
i assumed that this was one of those visits where the person chose not to answer the door.
has anybody else heard of this term.

Has anybody else heard of this term. Is this some new lingo dubs are now using in reference to those who were once interested but now want nothing to do with them. I found it pretty insulting that if you decide you don't want to have anything to do with them quietly, you're unteachable, verbally...you're persecuting.

A derogatory term.....HBH
by 95stormfront ini was recently over one of my non-dub relatives house when one of the dub relatives who also happens to be one of those self-righteous pioneers referred to a return visit as an hbh or something to that effect.
i was only half listening but i assumed that she went on a return visit where the person who'd initially shown interest was now not answering the door.

JW Family...UPDATE! Please advise!
by Ghost of Esmeralda inmy ex husband just told me that he will continue to facilitate visitation between my child and my jw family who is shunning me (see my other thread "i didn't think they could find another way to hurt me but...") he says i'm the one with the problem and that i should be "ashamed of myself".
it's not like i thought he'd cooperate, but for him to stand there and tell me that he will allow my sister full access to my child and there's not a damn thing i can do (and probably, legally, that's right) makes my blood boil.
makes me just want to swallow every fricking pill in the house.

Changing Truth........
by integ ini was at the book study last night and the elder conducting was talking about the old assemblies, like 1935, when rutherford exhorted everyone with an earthly hope to stand up, and half the crowd stood up, then rutherford said "behold the great crowd" or something to that effect, which was a departure to previous doctrine of one distinct class of salvation inheritors.
to which the elder conducting commented "we see here how jehovah has been progressively revealing his truth to the faithful and discreet slave class all through the ages"...he then said "we'll just have to see what changing truth is revealed at our next assembly...i'm sure we are all looking forward to these new truths".
are'nt we all on this forum looking forward to these 3 days of spirtual nourishment?

I am eagerly waiting for the District Assembly to be over. Then I can get on with the rest of the summer in peace.
I hear this time and time again from my JW relatives. but yet they still insist on passing that big bag of guilt around to each other and grudgingly going to those assemblies listening to yet another mind-numbing manuscript talk renamed and hashed yet again for the 6654987654665657654654654th time.
It's a shame that they can't face the reality that they can't stand being their either, yet falsely encourage each other to go to bolster the pretense that their so "spirituality".
