  I'm new to the board

  there has been a few new to board so what's one more?

  i've been reading the board for a few weeks and i'm impressed at the amount of research that goes into many of postings.

  there are two topics that really get me going, one is "607 bce".

  I have never been a witness but may start to study soon - just to keep a channel open to my lifelong friend soon to be baptized. I feel dishonest, but if he thinks I'm a potential convert I might stay close to him and gradually reveal the truth about the truth (all learned from Bible, past Watchtowers, Books & Internet over past 5 months.

  Could never do that myself....

  Just brace yourself for the reverse of what could happen. As you reveal the "TRUTH" about "the truth" your friend could just as well brand you and apostate or bad association and distance himself from you anyway. You may find that the time you studied to have been a total waste if it comes to that.

  The Social Structure in the Congregation

  ever notice how the "happiest people on earth" are also the most class-oriented?

  to say that jesus said his followers should all be on equal footing, it's incredible how much the r&f witness is not on equal footing.

  the social structure in the congregation is more complex than the blueprints of a nuclear warhead, but just so that you "remember your place", see if you can find where your niche was/is:

  I don't know, but it does give a deliciously perverse pleasure seeing them go splat. I snicker, but I feel bad too .... sorta.

  Guess they don't believe in turnabout being fair play.

  Although, If I were encircled by a bunch of them, there'd have been some ass kicking. That's tantamount to being detained unlawfully.

  Texas brisket.

  Only suggesting that a more sterile means of "bagging" a brisket can be found than reaching under the counter and pulling out the first "trash bag" you get your hand on.

  Wouldn't want the OP to put a nice piece of meat in one chock full of insecticides and deodorants and wonder why it doesn't taste as expected.

  Then get yourself a trash bag to put your brisket in the day before you cook it.

  Please find a more sterile bag to marinate your beef in.

  I've used to work in food service for 15 years and trash bags are made for just that........trash. They are full of insecticides for killing bugs and deodorants for masking odor.

  Do you really want to ruin a good brisket with all that.

  Also, when you cook it, cook it with the fat side up. That way all the juices will drain into the meat while it's being cooked.

  thank you so much everyone for your replies, for talking to me over the last few weeks and for some of the humour.. i believe the jws are right and that they have the truth.

  There exists a picture that's an optical illusion that illustrates this nicely. When you first look at it close up, you see a fuzzy image of an attractive woman from behind sitting at a makeup table with a big mirror in front of her. As you stare at it, you gradually begin to see a huge, grinning skull staring back at you. From then on, you can't look at the picture without seeing the skull.

  It's the same with getting to know Jehovah's Witnesses. At first, you see some attractive features. Then you gradually begin to see evidence like a grinning skull. Once you admit to yourself that the "skull" is there, you can't see the attractive things without seeing it. And once they see it, many leave the cult.

  Used to have a book of pictures like that. Accidentally left it in my JW mother-in-laws car. She took a look at it, pronounced it demonized, and threw it away.

  This is just another one of those "hit and run" final posts where the person posting fires some parting shots and then doesn't even stay around to defend their snide comments.

  Agreed.

  If she's made a decision that that was what she wanted to do, there are more gracefuls ways of making an exit than to toss out the requisite JW guilt trip and snide condescending comment.

  I hope she didn't let the door hit her in the a$$ on the way out.

  I think that anyone above in the level CO or above should easily be able to recognize that the organization is full of it, but for personal enrichment choose to not bite the hand that feeds them and support the status quo.

  There's not that many places to go where you get 6 million people supporting you to run around the world being a pompous ass.
