Catholic "Manger Scene" misrepresents the facts!

i drove by the local catholic church this evening and happened to notice there was a manger scene set up out front of the church.

flanking one side of the child's crib were mary, a few shepherds, and a cow.

flanking the other side of the crib were joseph and the so-called "three wise men" (more accurately known as the magi).. after having seen this display it made me wonder whether or not the local catholics know that the magi did not make their visit while jesus was an infant lying in a manger.

Seriously though wow complaining about the accuracy of a manger scene? Aren't enough other things in religion distorted or interpreted to go after. There were no Christmas trees or Christmas lights in the bible either so I certainly hope no Catholic would think of putting these up as part of their holiday display. -- Mysterious.

According to your profile I see that you're a "queer" that is studying for your BA. So you're trying to become an educated "queer"? In view of your comment I can see a need for you attempting to further your education. Hint: This thread is about the "Manger Scene" not Christmas trees and Christmas lights.

The inaccuracies in a manger scene may have caused some fun myths to develop along with some pretty XMas songs that aren't factual.

Maybe YOU know what you're talking about, but I doubt that anybody else does.

The 1914 thing caused people to join a destructive mind control cult and forego all reasonable happiness and normalcy because they think Armageddon is around the corner.

I didn't become a JW due to the "1914 thing". That's not the reason why I became a JW, and I can't say that I know of any others who became JWs for that reason.

Big difference right?

Maybe YOU know what you're talking about, but I doubt that anybody else does.

Although I find it a bit difficult to not laugh at these experiences, if ever I were to catch anyone in the act of committing such things as this I'd make them wish they hadn't gotten up out of bed that morning. And I'm just mean enough to do it too! And that also goes for anyone who pulls pranks on Kingdom Hall properties. Don't let ME catch you doing it, or you'll be sorry. Yes, I've got "religion" but I can loose it fairly quickly when I see people committing injustices. Guess I've yet to learn how to turn the other cheek when it comes to assholes. .

Now that is a religious hate crime if you ask me.
I can't think of anything lower than stealing Jesus at Christmas time.

Stealing Jesus is more than a prank. It is a hate crime. Trust me both my family, the other family that had it stolen, and friends that have heard about say it is possibly one of the lowest things to do. Both of our families feel violated and hurt.

Stealing Jesus is just low.

Vandals destroy manger, Nativity scene in Logan

Manger destroyed; Logan police say baby Jesus doll is stolen every year

Deseret Morning News Logan police want to know who took the baby Jesus away with his manger.
Eli Lucero, Herald Journal Stan Spence arranges a bale of hay for the manger at the Logan City Nativity scene at the Tabernacle on Wednesday afternoon before vandals broke the manger and carried off the doll representing the Christ child. Shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday, someone entered Tabernacle Square near 50 N. Main, knocked over the Wisemen in the nativity scene in front of the Tabernacle and took the manger and the doll being used to portray the baby Jesus.
"Every year someone tries to steal it. Sometimes it's returned, sometimes it's not," Logan Police Capt. Dave Tarbet said.
Because of the frequency of the baby Jesus being stolen, this year Logan police installed an alarm system in the manger scene. The alarm was tripped Wednesday when the manger was disturbed.
Police brought in a K-9 unit and found two sets of footprints in the snow, Tarbet said.
The manger was found in pieces on the Tabernacle grounds. The doll was found across the road lying face down in the street.
"It's the first time they've destroyed anything," Tarbet said.
He called the taking of Jesus an "annual prank" and did not believe it was a hate crime.
"We expect it every year. We prepare for it. We try to catch them," Tarbet said.
The Nativity scene is easily accessible because there is no fence surrounding it, so detectives said anyone could get close to it.
Tarbet said at least two people were believed to be involved in this year's vandalism, but investigators had no other leads. In fact, he said he couldn't recall if anyone had ever been caught for taking the doll.
Logan isn't the only place where a Nativity scene was disturbed this year. KSL Radio reported that a baby Jesus was also stolen from a Nativity scene in Draper recently.
