It applies to the harlot.

Nowhere does the Bible say the harlot bears the mark of the Beast. Nowhere does the Bible say the harlot once professed anything other than harlotry. You are making up meaning the Bible doesn't even hint at, the same meaning the WTS makes up in her case and different meanings in the case of the Beast and its name.

First time I looked at that it said "Shithead" (which I've also been called before). I Felt a bit flattered, then realized I had misread it.

I don't see the WTS's mistaken interpretations as "false prophecy". I think that's an exageration.

to double standards

I don't judge a book by its cover. I have to know all the facts before I'm able to pass judgement on any given situation. The "stories" others tell which supposedly prove that the WTS uses "double standards" doesn't mean much to me because I really have no way of being sure all the facts have been disclosed. Most times, the only ones that know the other side of the story are those that aren't here to tell of it.

Any death is a sad thing, of course. "Unwarranted deaths," you say? If people die because they refuse a form of medical treatment based upon what they themselves chose to believe, then who's fault is that? It's not only the WTS's fault for having misunderstood what the Bible teaches about blood and taught it. Each adherent to the religion has the responsibility to know whether or not the doctrines are sound, which includes the leadership. I haven't seen or read of any positive evidence of situations where the WTS is guilty of "causing unwarranted deaths".

and divorces

I personally know of a divorce that absolutely shocked me to learn about--a couple who were getting up there in age, and whose marriage was thought to be rock-solid--but I know of no divorces that are attributable to the WTS itself. Even the divorce that I'm aware of, I don't know all the details about.

You make it sound intentional. I personally don't think a parent should shun their son or daughter to the point of cutting them entirely off. But that has happened, and is no doubt continuing to happen. The problem exists because of the ignorance of both the parents and the WTS. The WTS does the best it can in trying to understand the Bible correctly, and if it fails here or there then that's just the way the cookie crumbles--unless there's someone who wishes to go to the trouble to set the WTS straight.

From which Scripture are you drawing your view that Babylon the Great was formerly NOT a harlot?

Like I've said repeatedly--and which you've chosen to ignore--she is NOT Babylon the Great. She's Babylon the great city.

She's a harlot because of claiming to be Christian (a follower/servant of Christ), but then after the yet-to-arrive 8th King makes the scene and pressures peoples to accept the mark*, she willingly complies. She serves the 8th King instead of Christ, and that's the reason she is a harlot, and has the name of the beast written on her forehead.

* The "mark" signifies that the bearer accepts the 8th King's authority as being above that of God's. Which is the reason why faithful Christians will refuse to accept such mark. Because of their refusal to do so, the will become the focal point of attention, and not be allowed to participate in the economic process of buying and selling goods. At that point their very survival depends upon God's intervention, and it's then when Michael will stand up (Da 12:1) in their behalf (armageddon has begun).

The United States does work at spreading what it believes to be the best form of government, democracy. The idea of the U.S. becoming a "world empire" is foreign to the very principles of "democracy". The two don't go together.

You're as dimwitted as they are, Stevie. I've demonstrated the way to know the name of the beast right here in this thread. But you're too thick-skulled to understand it--plus, you're not "seriously interested in this question" as posed in the title of my thread.

Scholars now believe the number in question has very little to do with the devil.

Which means that these so-called "scholars" at one time believed that the number DID have something to do with the devil. The fact is that the number never has had anything to do with the devil. It's the number of the beast (a political entity), not the number of the dragon (the devil). And so you actually would bestow the title of "scholar" upon such dimwits at this? You gotta be kidding!

Interesting Eh? This document was written around a hundred years after the original.

If you read it as a comic book, yeah, it's really funny. But if you're foolish enough to swallow what they say then I suppose you deserve the slop you willingly put into your own mouth.

I wouldn't say anything. I wouldn't try to make an impression on them. With time, in the scripturally prescribed way (Da 11:35), the WTS will come around to realizing its real errors, and things will get straightened out the proper way.

The point is that the "woman" changed from worshiping/serving her God to worshiping/serving the beast (a man-made entity, and hence has a "man's number," 666). That's how she becomes a harlot in the first place, and the reason why she has the name of the beast written upon her forehead.

Nothing in the Bible says she was ever anything other than a harlot. If you have read the Bible you know I am telling the truth. She is only described as a harlot and is never described as becoming one. Your assertion is conjectured.

The following is something that you claimed/said earlier:

Nothing in the Bible directly says that the reason the woman is seen sitting atop the beast is '''because her kingdom is over the kings of the earth". Your assertion is conjectured. (Not that I necessarily disagree with you.)
