I also use http://www.a2z.org/wtarchive/archive.htm . It has older documents available in a more "portable" format.
Good find on Strictly Genteel, though. I'll definitely be using it.
"it is appreciated that these documents do not reflect the current understanding of the bible enjoyed by jehovah's witnesses, and for up-to-date information the reader is encouraged to visit the official site of the watchtower bible and tract society.".

"if we were following a man undoubtedly it would be different with us; undoubtedly one human idea would contradict another and that which was light one or two or six years ago would be regarded as darkness now: but with god there is no variableness, neither shadow of turning, and so it is with truth; any knowledge or light coming from god must be like its author.
a new view of truth never can contradict a former truth.
new light never extinguishes older light, but adds to it.
Awesome find. I just told my wife this a couple of weeks ago. Of course, it was my own thinking. Now I have a Watchtower to back me up.
i do.. what does the soceity actually say about them?
(i know some the members of the gb use them) .
what do you think about using them at meetings?
I was already using mine on stage prior to this, mainly for timekeeping though. Nobody ever said anything about it. Now the BOE letter just makes it official.
another tidbit of information about this generation from the 1/15/2014 study edition under "let your kingdom come - but when?".
they've changed it again.. this generation will not pass away14-16.
what is a third reason for believing that gods kingdom will come soon?.
So now apparently this generation is comprised of two groups. The original generation (alive and annointed during Christ's kinging in 1914) and a second generation that was annointed while the first generation was alive. This second generation is the "real" generation that won't pass away.
You can't make this stuff up. :)

14-16. What is a third reason for believing that God’s Kingdom will “come” soon?
14 There is yet a third reason for confidence. What has developed among God’s people points to the nearness of the end. For example, prior to the establishment of God’s Kingdom in heaven, a group of faithful anointed ones were actively serving God. When some of their expectations about what would happen in 1914 did not come about, what did they do? Most of them proved their integrity under trials and persecution and kept right on serving Jehovah. Over the years, most—if not all—of those anointed ones have faithfully completed their earthly course.
15 In his detailed prophecy about the conclusion of this system of things, Jesus said: “This generation will by no means pass away until all these things happen.” (Read Matthew 24:33-35.) We understand that in mentioning “this generation,” Jesus was referring to two groups of anointed Christians. The first group was on hand in 1914, and they readily discerned the sign of Christ’s presence in that year. Those who made up this group were not merely alive in 1914, but they were spirit-anointed as sons of God in or before that year.—Rom. 8:14-17.
16 The second group included in “this generation” are anointed contemporaries of the first group. They were not simply alive during the lifetime of those in the first group, but they were anointed with holy spirit during the time that those of the first group were still on earth. Thus, not every anointed person today is included in “this generation” of whom Jesus spoke. Today, those in this second group are themselves advancing in years. Yet, Jesus’ words at Matthew 24:34 give us confidence that at least some of “this generation will by no means pass away” before seeing the start of the great tribulation. This should add to our conviction that little time remains before the King of God’s Kingdom acts to destroy the wicked and usher in a righteous new world.
what the heck are they?
should i learn more about them?
do you think there will be career opportunities?
Jay Leno uses this technology to produce hard to find plastic parts for his antique cars. Really, you can create anything with it that can be created with plastic - prototypes, combs, trim, even limited use guns. At least all the ones that I've seen use some type of plastic or plastic-composite material in the printing process. The printing process lays down very thin layers of the plastic material, from the bottom layer to the top. Youtube videos show the process very well.
Many of the items that are printed are first scanned in using a 3d scanner then sent to the 3d printer to be built. I'm sure that many of the 3d modeling software packages are being built to send completed models to the 3d printer for printing. To get into this, an engineering degree would help with a focus on 3d modeling. If you have these skills, you won't be limited just to 3d printing, but you will have a whole host of lucrative opportunities available to you. The first few years would be the most difficult because many jobs want you to have a certain amount of experience before they hire you into something like this.
I have no direct experience with this, but have read a few articles on the subject.
there have been several posts where individuals are asking if it is possible to hack into and watch the agm as it is streamed to the conventions.
i say it is not streamed live like many are assuming, but a recorded download played for the audience.. why?
a live stream has many possible points of failure.
Barrold, you would be correct. I overheard some elders going back and forth on it a while back and they conceded that it's always been Friday's. I never cared to look up.

Here's the deal. The first session on Saturday "may" be live. There's a lot of talk about whether or not it will be. I've always heard the meetings took place on Friday, but maybe this year is an exception. The next three sessions cannot be live and have not been advertised as such.
Bobcat is right about the box. http://www.aminocom.com/ That's the link for the box that I've seen our elders talk about. It has no download functionality, only streaming, on the models being sent to the KHs. Someone on here posted a link earlier to a streaming site on jw.org. It may connect to that, but who knows. The boxes that have been sent out are hard wired. Most congregations are running ethernet cable in preparation of this. Some of the less savy ones are running the cables along the floor and covering it with duct tape. Since it is hard-wired and bandwidth doesn't need to be compromised, wireless is being turned off to prevent cell phones, tablets, etc from stealing internet bandwidth and causing problems for the stream. There's going to be a lot of people at these things. Having a hundred extra devices on a home office grade networking equipment would be detrimental to the quality of service.
The big surprise everyone is looking forward to? It's a Bible. You'll have to wait two hours into the program. It'll be announced after song 75, then elders will bum rush everyone to get them out within 5 minutes. Supposedly they will be wrapped in plastic. If you really want to get on their nerves, take the plastic wrapping off before they tell you to.
Sorry to spoil the fun, but the above is fact, as I have no reason to believe the elder would just make this up.. One of our elders accidentally slipped in casual conversation. It was really easy to put the rest of the pieces together after that. His lips were mum after that. I couldn't get him to tell me any more such as what's changed in the bible, such as new version? new name? simplified/children's edition?
is superman really an angel--?.
he is from outer space.. he can fly.
he has superhuman powers-------what do you think bros?.
That face looks pretty angelic to me.
i was raised a jw and as a kid my family made brief mention of apostates in bethel that falsely prophecied about 1975 and were kicked out of bethel.
i was shocked after i got out and learned that him being removed had absolutely nothing to do with 1975. i think that partial lie spread is what kept my relatives in.
1975 a big let down/false prophecy, then they are told that a governing body member and many in bethel are found apostate and cleaned out, etc.
Even if apostates wrote it, the governing body is responsible for reviewing all literature that is to be approved for printing. They can't deny responsibility in any event, but alas they have and most JWs buy into it. The Society claims that some had unreasonable expectations for that year. That was true. They failed to mention that they were the cause of those unreasonable expectations and try to imply that it originated in the R&F.
