The number 2,520 years is a number arrived at by using the 'special math-magic formula' of 7x360=2,520.
The number 7 comes from the book of Daniel chapter 4 regarding Nebuchadnezzar's 7 years of insanity. (As we know, Nebuchadnezzar was king of Babylon and Babylon came to be the WTBTS's symbol for all false religion. Revelation chapter 14 speaks of "Babylon the Great".)
The number 360 comes from the number of days in a 'lunar' or Jewish year. (Of course we don't live by the lunar calendar and the 'marked' year 1914 C.E. is a Gregorian calendar date.)
Here's where the 'special math-magic formula' comes into play. 7 (years) x 360 (days) equals 2,520. BUT--- since we live in the Gregorian calendar world, and this 'prophecy' is fulfilled according to the Gregorian calendar date of 1914 C.E.; 7 (years) x 365.25 (days) equals 2,556.75. A difference of almost 37 years. (Of course, by using 'math-magic' those 37 years become 'invisible' just like Christ's return was 'invisible'.)
Another part of this 'math magic formula' is assuming that 2 other Bible Scriptures, in Numbers and Ezekiel, that speak of a 'day for a year' is part of this mysterious formula. (WTBTS say that the 'day for a year' formula is a Biblical rule when meting out punishment.)
One would also have to assume also that Jehovah used the kingdom of Babylon (world empire of false religion) to forshadow/picture God's Kingdom. That somehow Nebuchadnezzar's 7 years of insanity forshadowed/pictured a period of inactivity for God's kingdom. With Jehovah (and a bit of 'math-magic') all things are possible.
Is this the kind of stuff Dan Brown used to write the Di Vinci Code?

by JimmyPage inhere's what i gathered from the most recent wt study: 1. all your problems are your own fault, or 2. the ones that aren't your fault are satan's fault.
3. don't blame jehovah for anything, and 4. more importantly, never criticize the ones who claim to represent jehovah.. this is a typical meeting nowadays.
there are all kinds of possibilities to emphasize positive qualities and experiences.

barely any jw can point at a gb member by face, fewer can name the governing body, fewer know these men in person or can account for them as people.
not one person became a jw from reading matthew 24 and saying 'aha!'.

And if you are English speaking, you got a new NWT. If not, then you will have to "wait on Jehovah" for another cold front. I found it ironic that the japan branch printed English version Bibles? Really! Guess it was more important for us English speakers to get the new version before the rest of the world. Jehovah loves us more! And he should since JW's are an American religion.

JW's are always looking for a 'sign'. They get giddy when something really bad happens and point out how that was prophecied to happen. The culture is "when it's bad for everyone else , it's good for JW's."

Foreign language field - the curious Watchtower cutback?
by slimboyfat inmost of the recent watchtower cutbacks can be explained as money saving exercises: closing branches, paperback books, fewer pages in the magazines, sending bethelites home and so on.. but a few different posters have reported that the watchtower society are also cutting back on the foreign field ministry.
for many years foreign language congregations have been a major source of growth for the watchtower in many lands.
so why would they choose to scale it down?.

I know that Jah and the 'loving' GB love the English speaking JW's more than all others. That is why the 'new' NWT is only available in English.
I wonder how our non-English congregations feel about the 'loving' provision of the new grey Bible. I hope they will now see that the WTBTS is an American religion.

Why doesn't the GB come out with specific rules on counting time
by trujw ini think we all know the reason millions of less hours.
when i was in we went to a rv by the kingdom hall then drove 30 minutes out to the country to knock on a door then back to the city for one more door.

Ever notice that when talking to 'pioneeers' that the first and most important topic is; "How are you doing with your time?" When I was an elder and we would meet with the pioneers once a year, it was mostly about how we could help the pioneers to "Get there time in".
