I mean doesn't the President of the United States have enough important crap on his mind? We can only hope he doesn't read it (if indeed he really got it). He would really be confused then!

i can't discuss my family history here in detail while i'm still fading, but suffice to say that i'm a third-generation witness.
my grandparents' generation of witnesses expected the end to come in the middle of the 20th century.
they led spartan lives and largely went without having kids, as they awaited the imminent new system.
I'm 'only' 2nd gen dub but have 4 children 6 grand children and 1 great grand child. They are all dubs--sort of.
My wife and I were very good examples (elder, pioneer, never miss a meeting) of being 'good dubs', raising our children in da troof. Now, my wife, my children, and grandchildren see that I'm no longer a real dub (since really accepting ttatt). At first, as I began to 'fade', they were all a bit shocked. But now that they see me much happier, much less rigid, more relaxed, having infinitely more time for them, they have accepted the 'new' me and i truly believe that they like the 'new and improved' me much better. 3 cheers for freedom and happy new year to all my fellow improved ex-dubs!

i have noticed an apparently increasing number of men who are not interested in becoming ministerial servants or elders.
i also know of some that have voluntarily stepped down (which is my case) for no obvious solid reason.. i remember, during my teenage years or even during my twenties, the brothers were always looking forward to being appointed... although many still do, i have noticed there are many others with whom you do not know what the deal is.. since there is no freedom of speech within the organization, we remain in the dark about the motives and desires of everybody else.
i attend a congregation with only two ministerial servants, while it is full of men who do not seem to be willing to do more.. it is hard to tell exactly what is going on, since honesty is not possible while you are inside, but i am starting to think that more and more are becoming disillusioned.... .
I was appointed as an elder in 1972 at the age of 25 and served until 1980 when I decided I had too many questions and my life was going nowhere. I laid low for a decade and a half until 1995 when my eyes were really opened with the release of 'this generation' 2.0. Probably from that time forward I became an unbeliever in my heart but not yet an full blown apostate.
So with a divided and troubled heart, I 'reached out' once again for that 'fine work' of being an elder. Subconsciously, I wanted to see if "Holy Spirit" would appoint a man that was an unbeliever. Yep, there was a 'need' in our congregation, so the "Holy Spirit" made an exception for me and I was appointed. It was a miracle I tell you!
I spent another decade being a 'voice of reason' to our BOE and a contrarian with the CO and other hard line elders. I asked difficult questions at elder meetings and brought up some of the very gross Bible accounts during casual discussions with other jw's and would ask, "Why do you think Jehober would have that account recorded?" Man is was fun for a decade then I "stepped down" to persue sanity.

Tight pants-gate is a good one. I truly feel embarrassed for my jw friends that listen to Tony and believe anything he says. However, he may have been a victim of "too tight tidy whities" as a child.

does anyone else recall the big chart that hung at the front of every kingdom hall?.
it would be about 5 feet x 4 feet.
on the side of the chart, vertically listed, were the months of the year.
O yea----I remember. Hey I even got to paste some of the numbers on the chart. lol--the s**t we use to do for Jehober. Graphs, charts, magical calculations, and of course the ever popular 'type/antitypes'.

the wts says that the 70 years began when the last jews entered egypt (7th month, feast of gedaliah), and that this final exodus took place in 607 bce.. they then say that jerusalem was destroyed 2 months earlier (5th month) and that this event marked the end of the davidic kingdom, which commenced the 2520 years.
on that basis, if my reading is correct, their 2520 years ended on the 5th month of 1914, not in october.. further confusion reigns, since according to parker and dubberstein, in 607 bce the babylonians inserted an intercalary second elul before tishri.
from memory, thiele says that jeremiah used the babylonian calendar.. i know that their chronology and eisgeses are totally fanciful; i am simply addressing the logic in the thinking that they appear to present.. i have elsewhere shown that it is more likely that the time fom the destruction of jerusalem to the exodus into egypt is more likely to have been at least 2 years, perhaps as long as 4, so i am not canvassing that issue here either.. doug.
Just pick a number or a date and I'm sure the wtbts will be able to fit it into their 'end of the world' mantra. They can convince any 'good' dubber that their calculations are correct and the rest of the scientific world is wrong. We were there once---remember?

well, it's christmas eve afternoon here now in the uk.. traditionally a time when all the panic shopping is over, what's done is done, what you've forgotten you've forgotten, time to raise a glass (or two) and relax.. so may i wish all members/readers/posters a very happy xmas, whether you celebrate it or not, and extra 'get up and go' for 2015.. best wishes to all.. .
WOW!
2015 is "right around the corner" just like the big A was "right around the corner"-----40 friggin' years ago! Hard to imagine that we bought into the "new world hoax". But we did and now we have the rest of our life to make ammends for our folly and enjoy 'the real life'. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all. (God that feels good to use those sayings!)

well, i have been lurking on this site for several months and i recently decided to join as a member.
i have made several observations and would like to make a few comments.. first, i am perplexed by the attitude of many on this site that are either former or active (but apostate) jws.
they seem to have a strong hatred for the wts and also for rank and file jws.
What is truth?
The opposite of what the WTBTS teaches pretty much!

onthewayout wrote: of course, for quite awhile (and probably still), congregations have been viewing any relatively young (maybe under 50 or even 60) partakers as mentally unstable and watchtower ignores such people anyway and says they must listen to the elders.
is this correct?
ever since the emblem-takers were given emeritus status as members of the faithful and discreet slave, have they been relegated to standard membership?
w11 8/15 p. 22 Questions From Readers
"Memorial partakers. This is the number of baptized individuals who partake of the emblems at the Memorial worldwide. Does this total represent the number of anointed ones on earth? Not necessarily. A number of factors—including past religious beliefs or even mental or emotional imbalance—might cause some to assume mistakenly that they have the heavenly calling. We thus have no way of knowing the exact number of anointed ones on earth; nor do we need to know. The Governing Body does not keep a list of all partakers, for it does not maintain a global network of anointed ones."
So from the wtbts' point of view, They do not need to know how many of brothers of Christ, there are on the earth? There is no way to know the exact number of Christ's brothers? They do not need to maintain a global network of Christ's brothers?
WOW! Christ's brothers are less important that how many hours are spent in service, how many magazines are placed, how many rv's are mad, how many bible studies are conducted, how many publishers-pioneers-auxillary pioneers-special pioneers-CO's, congregations, etc. (you get the point).
Why are they less important?

wat would pope francis say to his kardinals if he was in charge of jw.org ?.
the 15 sins of the witness officials?.
g.. .
Almost makes me want to join the Catholic Church! NOT!
This pope is like the Catholic version of Ray Franz. Anyway I like him because he has a pair of b**ls. Says what he really believes and doesn't necessarily follow party lines.
