"Listen, OBEY, and be Blessed" my son.

one more highlight from the ca...for now... how to survive the end.
the bible says:.
1) prayer.
"Listen, OBEY, and be Blessed" my son.

forgive me, i know this must have been discussed many times but i'm still confused about what the current teaching is.
who do they say russell was now?.
The WTBTS (aka Rutherfords band of bullies) didn't like pyramids nor beards. By reducing Russell to a non-FDS status, they now can disavow his wacky stuff and use more modern wacky stuff like "overlapping generations".

as of late, it appears that the watchtower corporation has been trying to walk the "straight and narrow" (so to speak) as there really hasn't been too many newsworthy scandals or coverups in the last few years (other than their usual doctrinal flip-flops, steven unthank, conti, and a few others).... also, they've done a lot of damage control in the last few years by spinning the events of 1914-1919, using the library card excuse, dishing out tons of "hush money" to the parents of child molestation victims, etc... with their ongoing scheme to bury their dark past, it appears that they may actually emerge smelling like roses once again.. so i ask: will the subsection "scandals & coverups" dissapear from jwn soon?.
what say you?.
.
No there are more cover ups to come. The "overlapping" generationsstirred things up with a lot of long time JW's. They may have to revisit that with a WT article; "Overcoming the Overlapping Generations Over Time!"
The response to such an atricle could be Overwhelming to the Over all brotherhood. Overand out!

i spoke to a ms the other day, trying to get his opinion on the wt we'd just studied at the meeting.
the paragraph where the co didn't know if he had enough money to afford gas for a trip, he prayed and went anyway, and someone donated the exact amount to cover his trip.. my question to the ms was - the wt clearly are saying jah answered that prayer, yet there were a couple dozen jw's sheltering in a kh in the philippines, undoubtedly praying, yet they all died in the hurricane.
how's that work, how can jah answer some prayers but not others?.
Even back in the 60's and 70's when I would hear experiences of how Jehovah supposedly answered prayers by providing just the exact amount of money or by sending a pioneer to the door of someone complating suicide, I would cringe. "JW's and other good people die horrific deaths everyday", I would say to myself. Why didn't Jehovah hear their prayer for life. It's been this line of reasoning that has also got my 'believing JW' wife to wondering. Keep up the good work Watchtower! We need more of these miraculous ,'fantasy' experiences to appear in the WT.

regardless of personal opinion or religious belief, every single human being stands on the threshold of eternity - either of life or of non-existence!
.
discuss..
No one "knows" what lies on the other side of this life. We only "know"what we are taught or chose to believe. After 62 years as a JW, I chose to live each day without fear of what lies ahead and plan to live tomorrow the same way. Make each day count for something good in life.

is it true that the elders swear an oath when made elders and what is this oath???
?.
I was an elder for 20 years. No oath! But you did become part of a very elite group of "yes men". That's probably why I'm here because I would no longer say 'yes' when NO was the appropriate answer.

so the new jan wt article on "100 years of kingdom rulehow does it affect you?
" is up, which i think has its own thread.
but over on jwr poster cg4205 has noticed something that demands a seperate thread i think.. at the top of the article, in the can you answer box, it says:.
DATA-DOG has it right. It is about 'brand recognition'. Jehovah replaced Jesus during the brutal Rutherford era. Anything that mainstream Christianity believed, Rutherford took an opposite stance. In JW land, Jesus is only a figurehead much like the Queen of England. Sad but true.
In JW land, to be "in the truth" and be a good JW, teachings and doctrines are not the important thing. It's our obedience to those teachings and doctrines that is important.

lurkers, debaters, haters, lovers, the lost, the found, and the misplaced.
it's been a while, and i wanted to pop in.
the point isn't to agree.
I'm damned near ashamed to admit that i was ever a JW even to JW's. Nearly 60 years in the org. Not all bad of course but then I know many, many people who have never even been religious, and their lives have been just fine.

i've been developing this thought in my head for a few weeks.
let's address this from a theists perspective and from the perspective of our jw relatives.
answer - no, god can't be wrong or make a mistake.
Comatose---you nailed it!
"Universal Sovereignty" is another WTBTS theory that is presented as an absolute core doctrine. In other words, If the WTBTS can't explain it, they make up something as an 'explanation'. It doesn't have to be reasonable, logical, or even believable.
I'd much rather face questions that cannot be answered--than answers that cannot be questioned!
