ok. i'm a brit as some of you know.. what i noticed with the wbt$ is how they only seem to write from an american cultural standpoint.
not a bad thing if you're one of my cousins form the usa i admit........ but.... here in the uk there are some things that are meaningless to us.. eg hazing.
this was warned about in a study and over here we had no idea what it was and it kind of alienated the congregation from the study.
I was in England a few years back and got into a friendly banter with a very personable British bus driver. He was quite honest in admitting that we Yanks do indeed drive on the right side of the road! I thanked him. Then he informed me that the Brits do however drive on the 'correct' side of the road. Got me!

Yeah, I did the same thing along wth all notes from the 'elders school' Iattended over the years. I'm now working on ripping up all the crap stored in my head. So far so good!

so chatter on the net and in coffee shops suggests lots of speculation about the re-emergence of russia as the king of the north.
does this political situation give the gb a golden opportunity to simply let speculation about prophecy fly and keep people distracted from the fact that nothing they have prophecied has actually come true?.

If they bring back the "king of the north" vs "the king of the south" stuff, they may also bring back "the ressurrection of the ancient worthies" teacing. That's no doubt part or the reason that they are building a palacial new complex in upstate NY to house those "faithful men of old" who will be ressurrected sooooooon!

in his illustration at mathew 13: 24-30, jesus made it clear that the wheat and weeds were to grow together until the harvest.
this parable runs contrary to the concept put forward by the wt about getting out of the world and running to their organization for salvation.. first of all, the parable says that the weeds will be gathered, bundled and burned first then the wheat will be gathered into the storehouse.. wt teaches that we need to gather up the wheat first.
not only are they doing it backward, they are teaching that true christians must isolate themselves inside a special wheat organization, separate from the weeds.

I agree that "this detail is not significant" unless you are the WTBTS. They can pick the proverbial "fly poop out of pepper" when it comes to insignificant details if it in anyway supports their outlandish explanation of the Bible. How many toes did the image of Daniel have or not have and what does it signify?

folks are about as happy as they decide to be.. looking on the bright side of life gives you more of a foothold when things go awry.
nurturing hope builds a foundation for you which enables you to save for tomorrow and build toward the future and hang on when things get tough.. people dig their own graves when they become pessimists.
"why bother" replaces "that's worth a try!".

is there anything in the bible that makes you believe that some or all the writings in the bible are inspired from god?.
I think that the WTBTS could easily make (up) a case the Bible is not "inspired" but "spirit directed". All JW's would then have to believe the 'nu-lite' teaching.

7 years ago i started on a path i had long ago given up on as impossible.
i met with my elders and told them i could not justify carrying on as a jw.
i went and got my high school qualifications and my higher education diploma (a levels with distinction) in just 12 months.

the post about the cos being retired and recent wt articles about caring for older ones made me think.
the gb is doing everything to cut costs while at the same time asking for more sacrifices.
Giving only applies to the R and F. "Do as we say not as we do!" "Listen! Obey! or be SHUNNED!"

someone told me today that at the annual meeting something was said along the lines that, we do not need to be like the boreans and search that everything is true because we know we have the truth.

Can anyone confirm this? NO! Just about anything that the GB says cannot be confirmed. They are exactly like any other religion in that they 'hve the truth' and it doesn't need to be confirmed. Listen, Obey, and be Blessed. Yep!

i'm starting to believe the bethel higher ups are trolling us.
the outright contradictions and stuff like overlapping generation is too ridiculous.
calling out the harold camping when we did the same thing.
I thought that 'troll' dolls were a big no-no for JW's. So how could the GB 'troll' anything? They are much too "righteous" to 'troll'. I'm sure that the octo-pope will come up with nu-lite than will allow 'only' the FDS, aka GB to 'troll'. The rank and file----'no trolling'!
