as someone brought up as a jw and been an elder and been disfellowshipped (twice!!!
) i find it difficult to understand why ex jws have to attack the religion, yes religion, not cult or sect.
i am no longer disfellowshipped just do not want to practice anymore.

I've been and elder on several occasions during my life as a dub also. Decades! What a complete waste of time! Spent countless hours preparing talks and parts for meetings and conventions and for what? Only to find out that I was teaching something that was eventually and radically changed (ya know-nu-lite).
Why attack? Really? We learned it from the wtbts and especially good ole Joe (the drunk) Rutherford!

yes, today is the forum's 15th birthday!.
i never thought for one moment that it would survive this long or have so many people post so many great subjects over the years.. it is still humbling when i get pm's or emails from people expressing how the site has helped them and of course thanks goes to all the posters who have shared their experiences and make helpful and supportive comments to others who are in the sometimes difficult process of learning the real truth about 'the truth'.. the site has gone through several different incarnations over the last 15 years running on different platforms, different databases and different hosts but we've been able to keep all the old topics.
the current site is still being developed and i'm hoping to push another major upgrade soon.. i also may have some other news to share soon about the future of the site so stay posted.. until then, here's the the next 15 years!
Thanks for the past 5 years! Yep it took me a lot longer than most to finally acknowledge ttatt. This site has really helped me to successfully fade and help at least 2 of my boys to take a serious look at ttatt.
So congrats and if the big "A" doesn't come sooooooon, I'm sure this site will help many, many others.

nothing blasts a louder, clearer, and more deliberate message to the jws who personally knew you and those familiar with your jw bona fides that you are not merely "not making the meetings," "inactive," or "spiritually-weak," but that there is a conscientious reason you have rejected the entire watchtower society life than choosing to forego what they know you once believed to be jehovah's must-attend, one-and-only, holy/sacred event of the year for his people, the lord's evening meal.. you hand them the very justification they so relish to self-righteously label you as a "submarine witness" deserving of jehovah's, and more importantly, their judgement.
can anyone confirm they seem to be having disagreement writing dept and service dept some feel that df ok as long as you do not add wholesale across the board shunning regardless of the sin ..
I agree that the only way this will happen is if the governments threaten to remove tax free status on organizations that enforce 'hate crimes' or 'hate policies'.

of all the threads here about the number of partakers increasing, i don't recall theories as to why they report this.
they could stop reporting numbers altogether or lie.
instead they say, in essence, "our teachings about end times and heavenly hope are still wrong"..
That's a good question. I'm sure the gb will soon find some obscure scripture to twist that will justify their counting even the "unworthy" partakers. It will probably by under the guise of "the end is really, really , really close."

so many times the wt uses a phrase close to that, when they really mean accept the gb's discipline.
with all of these sex abuse cases and other skeletons in the gb closet coming to light, just like king david, perhaps somebody should tell the gb to take their own advice and accept jehovah's discipline as all of their dirty laundry will continue to get exposed and they need to humble themselves.
I have often mentioned to my (still in) wife that the gb likes to throw out wise sayings like
"accept jehovah's discipline" etc. My absolute favorite to bring up is "wait on jehovah?"
I tell her that if 'waiting on jehovah' is good why doesn't the gb "wait on jehovah"? Why doen't the gb wait until jehovah gives them the real, absolute, clear, no need to amend, truth before they put in writing crap that constantly requires 'nu-lite' to explain?
In other word, why not "wait on jehovah" to get it right before publishing a lot of horse sh*t in the wt?

my wife (in) disturbed to see i had the old libraries for years past on the computer.
she asked me to delete them this i have done.. anything to maintain her peace.
she spoke about not necessary they are updated etc.
You could tell her that "all the doctrinal sh*t before 2013 is now changed, would you like to compare darling?"

i was in edinburgh today with my wife (football, coffee, walks, food, cinema) and i always try to take 10 minutes to have a chat with the jws on the trolley in the "big city".. i challenged an older guy who turned out to be an pioneer about the generation.
When it comes to math-a-magic, the wtbts is the magician. Impossible things happen right before our eyes! They are the best at it!

i noticed that in paragraph 13 they mention the girl sheryl that i believe was the same girl that was in their video about the typhoon that hit the philippines back in 2013. they talk as if she's so happy and thankful to jehovah even mention that she lost most of her family in that typhoon.
what they don't mention was her family members that were killed in that typhoon were inside a kh thinking they were going to be protected by jehovah since they were in gods house and his people and all.
they also fail to mention that the government authorities were telling people to get out of town but the elders were most likely telling the people in their congregations to stick around and just come to the hall.

You pretty much said exactly what many of us have thought for years. Jehober makes sure the 'error filled' silver sword gets printed on time but is tooo busy to save people's lives in the Phillipines? WTF kind of god is that? May the blessings of jehober never be bestowed on me!
