Oh I get it now! So the wtbts is like the prostitute. She has a certain product that you want to 'buy'.
She has it!
She sells it!
But--she still has it!

what theocratic rule looks like: stoning - good topic for family worship.

I shared this article with my, still-in, wife yesterday while reading the internet news. We talked about how horrible it must be to be a woman in such places. She was appalled------until I mentioned that this was the exact form of punishment prescribed by jehober in the bible! No comment from my wife.
After a few minutes, I mentioned that the wt's current policy of disfellowshipping and shunning is intended to be the spiritual equivalent to stoning. Again no comment but I could sense that she was thinking about it at least. Praise jah --for he is good!

a letter was read to the congregation last sunday.
i wasn't paying much attention until i heard stephen lett will be delivering a talk.
at first i thought it would be as a recorded video, as it was in the last assembly.
At least you can get a good laugh at ol' rubber face if you can bear to look at him that is.

well, my sister-in-law and her husband, special pioneers for only a couple of years, just got their letter.. her comment was along the lines of, "they're having to do this because they forgave all those kingdom hall loans a few years ago and the brothers aren't donating anymore.".
when my wife told me, i laughed so hard i farted.
;).
My cousin and her husband were just "pink slipped" out of bethell. They were there 6 years and are in there mid 50's. They worked in securing permits for kh construction and remodels. They were "tickled pink" to get out of there. I never heard them talk about the lack of funds but they did complain about living through all the politics within the borg and were sick of all the endless meetings and bs. I won't be surprised to hear of them leaving the borg and just pursuing a normal life now that they are 'free'. Fortunately for them, they didn't 'sell everything' when they volunteered for bethell. They still have a home and a few vehicles.

ha!
that is supposed to make people go back?!
It was very kind and loving of jehober to send all the help to the brotherhood in the Philippines after that devastating typhoon. I recall that about 23 jw's were literally swept out to sea, never to be seen again, while attending a meeting at the KH. It surely would have been kinder and much more loving of jehober if he had just prevented that typhoon from devastating the Philippines to begin with.
And, for sure, why the hell did he allow 23 jw's to be swept out of a KH and into the sea, never to be seen again?
Also, great job by the gb in mobilizing video crews to capture all the film footage of their pr work. Did I hear the phrase "photo op!". It reminded me of President Bush flying over New Orleans after hurricane Katrina. Nice of him and the gb to show up and offer their condolences.

or do traces or attitudes still rear its ugly head of your past involvement with the witnesses?
Gotta admit, I felt a twinge of guilt when I stood, removed my hat, and listened respectfully to the USA national anthem.
Also gotta admit that I felt a bit of emotion as the young girl beautifully sang the national anthem.

i could only manage to watch the part of the antitypical babylonian exile not being from 1914-1919, but from some time in the second century to 1919..
for the interest on keeping tabs what family and former friends are being taught...what other new light was given?
specifically, what is the new light in regard the mark?.
The "current truth" is that "the mark" is-----"$$$".
For further information on how YOU can, not receive "the mark" but can actually give "the mark", please contact the WTBTS. Acts 20:35 'better to give that to receive"

i don't know if this has been talked about before but do you think that cart witnessing has made the r&f more accessible to apostates.
why i say this is because if you think of the d2d work the only way that i could make contact with a r&f member would be if they knocked on my door or i was fortunate enough to see them walking down the road, stopped them and began talking.
if it was known that i was an apostate my address would be recorded and no further visits made.. however with the carts it is a completely different story, and it is much harder to walk away particularly in a busy street in the full view of the public.
Yes jw's now have much more access to apostates, O I mean ttatt. If we don't screw it up we can do a lot of good. I've been taking many candid, embarrassing pictures and videos of those 'supposedly' cart witnessing using my smart phone and then showing them to other jw friends and relatives. This has been pretty productive as many of my jw friends tell me that they don't want to get involved with the 'cart witnessing' at all.
Being confrontational with the 'cart' witnesses, IMHO, is counter productive. Most of us here have no 'beef' with the rank and file witnesses. A confrontation usually puts them in full on cult mode and while you may win a battle, you lose the war!
I use my 'watchtower training' and kindly ask a very short and simple question- and then move on. Logic and reason, which is all ttatt really is, may well win the day. Approaching "the carters" is either an opportunity for a public rant or a subtle nudge toward doubt.

since the liberal government has been elected in canada, it seems that people are looking to the future with a little more optimism and hope.
it is only human nature that with change, we would think that the change would be for the better.
the courts have ruled, in canada, that it is unconstitutional to deny the homeless the right to sleep in parks.
i'm currently at a privacy conference and one of the speakers mentioned this creepy facial recognition tool for churches to track their parishioners.
surprised the jdubs aren't on it already ;) enjoy!

I have a version of "facial recognition software" myself. Actually most of us have it.
My wife and I are retired. We travel quite a bit making lots of stops in various cities. I have been using my smart phone, getting real close to the subjects, and taking lots of candid photos and short videos of; 'witnesses' supposedly doing the infamous 'metropolitan cart' work. I later show them to my jw wife and other jw friends and innocently say something like, "is this really preaching, or I'm sure that this is not what Jesus had in mind". It's hard to defend some of these photos. lol
It's friggin' embarrassing (even to me) to 'witness' (pun intended) what these poor brothers and sisters are doing while "attending" these metal carts and call it preaching. I'm putting together a slide show to be released soon.
It's become really interesting and fun to observe this 'time wasting' endeavor. To me, it's much better than confronting these "carters" and trying trap them or to put them on the spot. Mostly, I feel sorry for them. Remember too, most of us were once in there shoes and would have stood naked on the sidewalk if the borg would have told us to do so!
