  in establishing the length of the seven times of the gentiles, a time or year of 360 days is used, to give 2,520 days, which become 2,520 years when ezekiel 4:6 is applied.

  A question I asked of the whole Body of Elders in my congregation some time in the '80's was :

  "Why, if a "Prophetic Year" was 360 days long, were the years fulfilling the prophecy not, likewise, 360 days long ?" (In slightly different words, but essentially your Thread title question)

  I had exactly the same question back in the late 60's. I got the same bluster from a brother that I asked.Trying to explain this non-sense to any thinking person is absolutely impossible. I've dubbed it "math-magic" and I now also wonder how I swallowed their bs for so many years.

  The names of the gb's wives are NOT important. After all they are only women! Does the bible give the names of the the apostles wives. NO! Face the facts, if you're a female jw, you are just not important! The gb brothers are so busy supplying "spiritual food" at the proper time (lol), how can they possibly find time for a wife?

  Boredom at the Kingdom Hall meetings

  Fortunately we all lived through it and now have a life. On the occasions that I do attend with my wife, I have an ipad so I can check my email, ebay, and the the NFL scores. Still boring though.

  Merry Christmas to all of you too!

  Even though I was a jw for 98% of my life, I always liked the Christmas season because people just seemed to be in a better place mentally and emotionally. It was just a 'warm' time of year and I really like the music (even though we were suppose to hate it). As dubs we were taught to pity the poor worldlings because (christmas) "that was all the had".

  Well they had a sh*t pot more than we had. We had nothing. No fun, no joy, no spirit, no special occasion (oh yea, lol, the Memorial). Poor worldlings only got to celebrate a birth, but us jw's, well we got to celebrate a DEATH. Lucky us!

  Enjoy your families and the spirit of the season even if you don't celebrate the actual holiday!

  What made you turn atheist or agnostic?

  if you were a jw and are now an atheist or agnostic, what was the tipping point that made you turn to it?.

  the reason i ask is i have noticed that many who leave the jw's seem to turn to atheism, versus still having some form of a faith.

  have many of you given up on god first or have you had atheistic views first and then found atheism to be true.

  Does Jehovah Intervene - JW Teaching

  i have been a jw my whole life and i have never been able to get a clear answer on this question.

  jw's do not believe that jehovah will intervene if someone is sick, dying or stopping a car crash.

  they feel that jehovah is letting "this world" play out before he solves all of these problems.

  maybe just about nine people were out and man if you could just see their faces.

  Beards galore at the Assembly

  ok, at our recent assembly, i noticed that there were quite a lot of brothers wearing beards.

  not just the older dudes, but right across a range of ages, young men, middle aged men and older men.

  is watchtower beginning to relax this rule at last?

  2 of my sons (born ins) have beards and attend fairly regularly. I've asked them if anyone ever hassles them about their beard and so far, no problem. I believe that it's their way of saying, "I don't want to be 'used'---thank you very much". I had a nice goatee for a while after I 'stepped down' and no one really said much, at least to my face.

  I'm a fan. I'm wondering why you did not also mention the 'math-magic' that the borg uses to also arrive at 1914. The number 2,520 is derived from multiplying 7 X 360=2,520. It's always bother me that the borg used the JEWISH calendar year of 360 days to "prove" a date found in the Gregorian calendar year of 1914 which is based on 365 1/4 days per year. Was there ever a reasonable explanation given as to the 5 1/4 days per year disappeared? Magic?
