My Big Church, Born-Again Experience
by Phaedra insorry to say that i was snapped up by born-agains post-jw.. gotta say they were much better than jws, but still had the same problems.. namely, no way to validate what they taught was real.
not to mention all the other problems with christianity.*.
just wanted to share that it's totally natural to keep looking for "truth" after you leave jws until you realize there's no way validate what *any* religion out there teaches.. learn from my cliff notes and save yourself some years of experimenting.. *see cofty's threads for all that.. phaedra.

Prediction: jw.org sign up with monthly subscription fee
by bohm inthe wtbs is changing media from print to online.
if we look at other companies doing the same the obvious buissness model is subscription with a monthly fee people can choose themselves.
the wtbs can continue to offer everything for free, however subscribers might earn a button for social media or somesuch ("wtbs donor").

"Freeness of speech"
by Wonderment inthis was posted on another thread (http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/6040010839031808/christmas-tree-word-appreciation), but wondered about how others here would see this with one experience i had as an elder now as ex-jws.. when we were jw's we had to be extremely careful with what we said around the brotherhood.
if someone said anything out of the ordinary, relationships among the involved were halted immediately, or were never the same afterwards.
in this place, one can say almost anything without the fear of having a truck run over us.

Absolutely hypocritically amazing how the wtbts brags about their 100's of court case victories regarding 'freedom of religion' and/or 'freedom of speech'. Have you ever tried exercising 'freedom of religion or speech' within the wtbts?

If a year is really 365 1/4 days why 360 days to calculate 1914

in establishing the length of the seven times of the gentiles, a time or year of 360 days is used, to give 2,520 days, which become 2,520 years when ezekiel 4:6 is applied.

in my country one can get dfd for pretty much anything the bullies want to df you for.
but is there any specific guidelines that state one can or cannot be dfd for marrying a non witness.

Another freakin example of the way the borg arbitrarily cherry picks the scriptures and misapplies them. The bible in both 1 and 2 Corinthians provides pretty specific instructions about “marry only in the lord” and “do not become unevenly yoked”. Yet one is seldom if ever df’ed for marrying an unbeliever. Smoke an occasional Cuban, (about which the bible says absolutely nothing) and you’ll be df’ed.
