Just a few words that have an entirely different meaning for jw's

two ironys here... first of all the title "keep in expectation as jehovahs day draws near" - (this talk is from 2006!!
) i suppose 11 years isnt near enough.
second is that geoffrey jackson, of all people, is giving a talk that goes on and on about liars and how jehovah never lies.

I quit going since they dumbed down the meeting. Mid week meeting is so pathetic that it's an insult to seasoned jw's. The video portion is especially grating to me.

..................then proverbs 3:5 could read thus: "trust in the governing body with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding.
" .
's have already reached this point!.
Then there is Revelation 7:4
4 And I heard the number of those who were sealed, literally 144,000, sealed out of every tribe of the sons of spiritual Israel:

the saharan silver ant (cataglyphis bombycina) is one of the most heat-tolerant land animals known.
And it isn’t creation. What say you?
Ah, the wonders of nature!
The violence in nature, storms, tornadoes, typhoons,
floods, earthquakes, hailstones, volcanoes, etc. tell me that if god 'created',
he must have enjoyed violence. The food chain is another example. Specie
devouring specie in very graphic and violent ways speaks volumes to the violent
nature of all creation.
In the bible, the manner in which god destroyed the wicked is usually depicted as very violent events. I’ve often wondered why he just didn’t make the wicked simply disappear without a trace. Why the need to graphically describe their violent end?
Let’s face it, the real world; both in nature and in humanity are inherently violent.

After reading some of the comments posted on this site, I think that many of you could write a book about your life as a jw and get it published. The things that happened, the things we believed, and the things we did as 'captives of a concept' are unbelievably interesting to others!

my wife and son were watching the january broadcast and one of the segments was about william tyndale.
william tyndale was a bible translator in the early 16th century.
i always knew that the org held men like tyndale, john hus and john wycliffe in high regard.
All the 'good guys' (and girls) throughout history were early jw's and all the 'bad guys' (and girls) were some other religion. I wonder if an of those early jw's celebrated Christmas?

something jehovah's witnesses do not talk about so much these days is the "north and south kings" of the book of daniel, and the reason is obvious.
this is one of many failed prophecies of the governing body.. they have not been able to present any new north king since the soviet collapse in december 1991, over 25 years ago now!
and this at a time when they are "so close to the end.
They are pathetic and laughable in their "interpretation" of the scriptures. The 'king of the north' is like the "good witch of the north" in the Wizard of OZ---fantasy at its best. Now all we need are the flying monkeys since we've been able to peek behind the curtain and the 'Wizard' has been exposed!

should others make decisions for us?.
) we should not give someone else the responsibility to make decisions for us.
rather, we should personally learn what is right in god’s eyes and choose to do it.. how might we give in to the danger of letting others choose for us?
When it comes to religion, most people don't want to think for themselves, IMHO! As a former jw, I thought that I was a real bible student. But, looking back now, I believe that I, like 99.9% of jw's was very lazy minded and did not really want to know what the bible says, but wanted someone tell me what the bible says. I gave up my responsibility to think for myself!
What a dipshit I was!

hey all,.
we have purchased a bunch of great books recently, and one of them is from author kyria abrahams called "i'm perfect, you're doomed".
i'm only 5 chapters in at this stage, but i just have to share that this is a great read!.
Are all you guys trying to tell me that I'm (jw's) not perfect and this "wicked old world" is not doomed? Holy s**t! That's a scary thought!

what i sense from the conversations of my family members and relatives who are jws is that at least some jws are not as zealous before with regard to the major subjects such as “sanctification of god’s name,” “vindication of his sovereignty” etc.
they begin to feel that such subjects are imaginary issues.. this is a good sign.
it shows people are worried about their own day-to-day worries.
Whether they say it or not, many of the old school jw's that I know have seen the 'hand writing on the wall' so to speak.
They see the borg building lavish new headquarters in various places, they see the dumbed down message, they see the reduction in meetings, they see the sever reduction in the printing of 'bible' literature, they see the borg going 'hollywood' with their message in video and deep down inside I think they are saying WTF! They have traded the zeal for the real!
