just heard from a silicon valley elder yesterday that a number of local congregations are being dissolved and combined between belmont and palo alto, ca.
on the san francisco peninsula.
can anyone verify this?.
It certainly looks like a true reversal of philosophy for wt. It used to be "Build and they will come".
Now it's "Sell for they have left".

i just wanted to share a quick thread to remind us all to never give up hope that our loved ones who are still mentally trapped in the org may one day wake up.. when i first starting waking up i never thought my wife would also awake.
i have always loved and respected her ability to think and reason, but i assumed that the hold of the organisation would always have its grip on her.. but slowly, and with patience, i shared some things i had learned, and the results have been amazing!.
my dear wife, who posts here under the name "unstuck" is so fully awake along with me.
I'm still waiting for my wife to Awake! so thanks. However, I do think that I have made some significant headway. She is no longer the 'go to meeting and service' Nazi she once was. It doesn't take too much persuasion to get her to go see a "R" rated movie if it gets good reviews.
I agree that it takes a lot of patience to help a mate who has only know the jw way to wake up and see things as they really are. But by sharing small things, little at a time, you may see the wall of defense start eroding.
I think that the most significant thing is that she has seen me transfer from being an uptight, always worried, seldom happy, constantly busy with 'theocratic' activities, no fun elder, circuit assembly speaker, life time jw to now being a much happier, not too serious, content, fun loving, having time for my hobbies, non critical of others, non judgmental regular human being.

the "what does the bible really teach?
" book says we cannot speak to the dead (page 64) and that the dead do not hear (page 58) but on page 68 the book has jesus talking to a dead man and the dead man apparently hearing and responding.
the same thing happens on page 69 when peter talks to a dead woman and the dead woman apparently hears and responds.
I don't think the dead can hear but I do think they can speak. Doesn't it seem like the gb hears Russell, Rutherford, Knorr, and mad Freddy talking to them from the grave. I think they can hear them saying,
"Keep up the phony bullsh*t religion--it's a great gig. Oh, and sorry guys that we didn't prophecy that the damn internet would ruin our printing empire!"

the corpse in the kremlin's front yard tests the strength of putin's faith.
simon shuster.
At least the wt now has fresh fodder to start the "king of the north vs. the king of the south" bull sh*t again. Maybe wt will throw in the "wicked witch of the west vs. Sparlock" video!

on my way home from work today, i saw the modern day pioneers having a grand old time, relaxing in the sun.
two sprawled on one bench and the other two talking up a storm, with their iced cappuccino, just enjoying the day.
the two carts were a number of feet away.
Now that we've retired, my (still-in) wife and I travel quite a bit. Whenever we hit a fair size city, I look around for "cart witnesses". I take pictures of the "cart witnesses" and show them to my wife. I always then ask her, "Can you imagine Jesus approving of this sort of public declaration?"
She, and even I, am embarrassed by the lackadaisical attitude of the "cart witnesses". I'm thinking of re-joining the borg if I can get "cart duty". I just don't know if I can consume that much coffee during my "service" time. Do they get to "count their time" when they have to go pee? If so, I'm in! lol

this was partly discussed in this thread: https://www.jehovahs-witness.com/topic/4853755331739648/these-common-jw-beliefs?page=2#!#5701815683252224 but i wanted to delve into the topic of yoga even further.. it seems watchtower have no clue what yoga actually is, or what it can achieve.
i myself dont practice yoga, but i do meditate and see the benefits of that.. here is an artical from watchtower 2002 with my commentary:.

Dang! I thought yoga was a bear who lived in Jellystone Park that stole everyone's pic-a-nic basket. O well, you learn something new everyday.

i had an interesting conversation with a fellow ex-jw yesterday.
for the sake of this post lets call her "katie".
katie is a former pioneer who suddenly stopped attending meetings and managed to be left alone by the elders.
Speaking from 20 plus years as 'an elder' and 60 plus years as a jw (faded successfully about 8 years ago), it's fairly common for elders to have little or no respect for their fellow 'elders'. In private, one on one, conversations with several fellow 'elders', who were also friends, we often criticized and scoffed at the sh*t we were "required" to do an believe.
I'm certain that any reading this post and that have ever served as 'elders' in jw land will agree that all is not well even among those "appointed by holy spirit".
I never went along with shunning and always expressed concerns about the blood issue.

on http://avoidjw.org/2017-regional-convention/ you can find the talk outlines of the regional convention this year.. i looked into the final talks each day and found these releases to be announced:.
on saturday:.
new magazine-size book entitled "lessons you can learn from the bible".
Will we ever get the new version of the Bible in Spanish?
Sorry Doubtfully but jehober only really loves the English speaking dubs. After all, jw's are an American religion. Maybe if the Latins donated more dinero, jehober would influence the weather so Spanish speakers could receive a silver bullet also!
