It's all hype to keep the troops stirred up. When things start lagging in the borg, look for a "BIG" announcement to be made and prepare for a BIG disappointment.
Everything the wt does is "special"--Special talk, special week of activity, special assembly day, special pioneers, special arrangements, special magazines, special campaign. They have cried 'wolf' way too often!

I went to the Sunday meeting with my lovely wife of 51 years and her dear mother who is now 90. The talk was about how the “truth” can transform your life. The speaker gave a very interesting discourse and he used the “metamorphosis illustration” of how an ugly, fuzzy, creepy caterpillar becomes a beautiful winged butterfly. Of course, he was trying to illustrate how the ugly, fuzzy, creepy life of a worldly person transforms into a beautiful butterfly type life once one becomes a jw.
I began thinking about how that illustration actually fits the life of those of us who have left jw’s. As a jw our life sort of crept along all warm and fuzzy but we never got to spread our wings and fly. And much like that caterpillar that had to go into the cocoon and cease to exist as neither a caterpillar nor a butterfly, so it was for us who left jw’s.
The struggle to break out of the cocoon was at times gut wrenching, a near death experience for some of us. For me it was about a 5 year struggle in the cocoon. But we made it and now we can spread our wings and fly. It’s a beautiful thing to own your own life. Ask any butterfly.
I hope it doesn’t take others nearly 60 years to realize that they are the caterpillar!

If the wt organization can convince the 'rank and file' jw's (and they did) that the WHOLE book of revelation is symbolic, EXCEPT for the number 144,000 then surely they can convince jw's of the "tremendous" growth that is currently happening worldwide! They are getting better at being 'spin doctors'.

I too am 70 and went through what you are currently going through. Leaving the wtbts was a life altering and extremely difficult thing to do. I had similar symptoms to what you have described and if you PM me we can talk and I will share what helped me survive that painful period of time!

Work Colleague Went To a JW Funeral - His Experience

this was his first time in a kh and full on exposure to jwdom.. bit of background: the deceased jw was not a born in, she was a convert when she was in her teens.
she died last week at the age of 82. the poor old dear was still zealously knocking on doors while in ill health.

Yes, sadly jw funeral services are nothing more than just infomercials for the wtbts, if the outline is followed. However, I attended a jw memorial service last week for a well known jw in the LA area that was quite different. His 2 jw sons (both elders) and 1 nephew (a bethelite) gave the talk which include even a very nice eulogy followed by a 15 minute video of his life. All of this done inside a kh! WOW! I was really surprised but it was a pleasant surprise and based on the comments I heard from most of the long time jw's that attended, it was a very refreshing deviation from the normal boring infomercial jw funeral talk/service. "Oh the times they are a changin'"
