i just found out today that he passed away on february 28th (yeah i know, i'm always the last to know these things).. ok, here's the problem - his funeral is scheduled for march 15th.

Did you ever weasel out of an opportunity to witness?
by pmouse ini remember being a sophomore in high school and having some sort of discussion about religion in which the jw's and 1975 were brought up.
i can still remember today how my history teacher snickered and made a snide comment about them forecasting the end of the world so many times before it wasn't funny which of course cracked up the entire class.
this was in the early 70's when the 1975 armageddon date was bandied about.

I slithered down in my seat totally embarrassed and tried very hard not to be noticed. I weaseled out of my witnessing "opportunity" by keeping my big trap shut. Of course I felt extremely guilty over it and just added it to the growing list of why I wasn't going to make it to the "new order".
Anyone else had those opportunities where as a believer, you kept quiet when the opportunity to witness arose?

Does your pet do something funny?
by Hortensia inmy cat monty is a scavenger.
every night he brings an odd assortment of items to bed - this picture shows a little sock, two little mittens, a catnip sack, and two cords.
it also shows little lavender sneaking up on him to steal the black cord, which she loves.

I have two dogs and a Cat named Casey. He bullies the oldest and smallest one but he has definitely met his match in the new puppy who's 8 months old. Her name is Heather. They are best buds and fun to watch:

Funny things you thought growing up -
by cognac in1. a "shower" as in "baby shower" or "wedding shower" was when a bunch of people got together to take a shower together.
which didn't go over well with me when my mom wanted to go to a shower without my dad.. 2. when my father said to my mom that he was going to marry somebody, as in do there vows or something, i thought he was going to marry somebody else and start another family.
i almost fainted when he told me that he was leaving to go do that.

This will probably date me, but when I was a child, I continually waited for our black and white television set to broadcast the television show "in living color" as promised. It fooled me every time.
I also thought that airmail (back then) meant that you drove your car really fast down the highway and put the letter out the window where it would magically find it's addressee. My father pulled that one when I whined and whined about the Walt Disney show not showing enough cartoons on Sunday nights. I dictated a letter to my mother who put it down on paper and into an envelope for me.
I also tried to mail a letter to my aunt and told the postman that the address was the White House. Because she lived in a white house. Doh!

If you are having issues with your cat tearing into furniture, I highly recommend Soft Claws . They glue on over the cats natural claw and do not harm or bother the cat. The hardest part is getting your cat to allow you to put them on. It takes two, maybe more to hold the squirmming cat who is hell bent on clawing you into pieces while one brave individual applies the nail. The end result is worth it. My cat, Casey, never retracts his claws and it's almost impossible to cuddle him because of it. And he is extremely needy (was a rescue cat).
After bullying Heidi (my older Maltese-Shih-Tzu or Maltishi) for years, if he looks at her she goes Mideival on him. The younger Maltishi who is 6 months old has outgrown Heidi and Casey. She has played with the cat since she was tiny and now unfortunately drags him around the house by the scruff of his neck. What is strange is that he apparently enjoys it.
I have ocassionally been quietly sitting at my computer and felt a tap on my shoulder only to see my cat stretched up to a yard long from the floor up just to get my attention for a scratch on the head. When I pick him up, he's not content to sit in my lap, but would rather sit on my shoulder and smother me while trying to get closer. He is not my first cat, but is definitely the strangest one of the bunch. I'm trying to attach some pictures of our furry children. Hopefully they come out.
