So if I may summarise WTW - you want to get laid. A LOT !
Crumpet, once again, I do like the way you think! (and the brevity)
Do you, by any chance, have an older sister who is unmarried and has low expectations in a man?!
if god existed and came to you and admitted actually he was fallible and a bit of an ego problem but was undergoing therapy to deal with his jealous and violent disposition and was genuinely sorry for making such a mess of the world by insisting on worship of himself, could you forgive him?
.
and if he asked you to be part of a committee to sort out his mess - what would you suggest he started with?

I'd also ask him why he thinks we should help him sort his mess out and why he didn't own up sooner. I'd also ask for Satan to be reinstated as cheif spokesmen on the committee because so far he is the one who has made the biggest efforts to free mankind from slavery to God.
My, my, but I do like the way you think!
a couple of jws just left my door.
they started out by trying to give me an invitation to an upcoming convention.. i politely declined and said it was difficult and that i didn't get out much, anyway.
we didn't spend much time talking but i almost felt sorry for the poor man (it was a husband & wife) because he really, really wanted to give away some literature!
Blondie asks:
BTW how far away was the convention site from you.
I didn't look that closely. I just saw "District Convention" on the cover and politely told him I didn't think I'd be going.
The woman I used to be involved with who joined the JWs used to go to conventions at 2 different places. One was a meeting hall (?) at a local college and it is about 50 miles away.
The other was the Gulf Coast Coliseum in Biloxi, MS. That one is more like 80+ miles away but since the hurricane in 2005 I don't know what kind of shape the coliseum is in.
So I guess the short answer is "I don't know."
Oh, yeah HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BLONDIE!
(I noticed it right as I finished reading your post.)

The odd thing is that they were just here a couple of months ago (right before the memorial to invite me to that...) and again today. The last visit was the first time in around 3-4 years they stopped and that one was 3-4 years from the time before. And now they've been out twice in around 3 months? This is unusual.
So after I declined a RV about 5 times (!!!) they walked away. But why, all of a sudden, are they coming so often?
Is there some big "push" to get out more? Anybody have this same thing happen recently? Any ideas?
Thanks for any thoughts. I'm just mostly curious. And I never know how to open our conversations.

i dont have any statistics but am curious if there could be any truth to it; that it might be easier for a witness to stop believing vs a christian.
i dont see this at any of the churches i have attended; people leaving in droves with some totally discarding any belief.. 1 the jw org is the only truth.
you question its authority, then you question god.
For what it's worth, I was never a JW. I was a "casual catholic" in that I was raised and schooled all my life as a catholic. I went thru the motions (mostly to pacify catholic parents) until I was old enough to move out and get married. I was never very zealous by any stretch of the imagination.
When I got (much) older, a relationship with a woman who joined the JW's prompted me to read and research this group for my own knowledge.
In the process, I read CoC, ISoCF and other JW-related material and this website. During this time I read the bible for the first time and read a lot of other literature and books on religion-rerlated subjects. I read and read.
After a while, I noticed that my ambivalence regarding religion in general and catholicism in particular had vanished. In its place was a fairly strong sense of atheism.
Using logic and reading all these items made me firmly an unbeliever. It wasn't my original goal but after ingesting these things and asking myself "can this be real?" I answered "NO!"
So a voyage of learning had a completely different effect and I now feel that science, logic and reasoning are much better substitutes for dogma and blindly following for faith reasons to be my choice.
so here's a sincere question... and instead of pressing my frustrations and blaming god and bla bla bla... i decided that instead of writing letters to an inactive god, i would ask your opinion!!!!!.
here's the question, looking at the world around you, seeing all the pain and frustration, the death and disease, the war and hypocricy, the starvation and disgust; generally seeing that our world is falling apart... if someone were able to irrevocably prove that there was a god, an intelligent creator is you will, would you want to worship him?
if he was there and created all of this just to watch it all implode, would you be able to respect that?
If there's a creature out there with the power to stop suffering without losing anything himself, and yet does nothing, I don't want to meet him.
Oh no. I do want to meet him! In fact, my foot has got a message for his ass.

thank goodness it is finally brought to light.

I guess this is one more reason college and/or higher education is discouraged!

william miller began his preaching reluctantly.
he had no formal training and he was self-educated.
You have explained why that girlfriend from the 90's stuck with me for 3 long years- I tried to get her to leave, but she kept coming back and persuading me to get back together with her. Now I have a name for it!
Wow! Your girlfriend was a Millerite?
there is a lot of 1914, how jw's (then known as bible studends) anticipated it was a marked year.
ever since things are going bad, wars, wars and wars, food shortages, pestilences and earthquakes.
here the speaker mentions that earthquakes have increased tremendously since 1914. oh oh oh where did he get it?

And this:
Watchtower 12/1/93 page 6 paragraph 2 Natural Disasters-Is God Responsible?
In this regard, note what the book Natural Disasters-Acts of God or Acts of Man? has to say: "There is no evidence that the climatological mechanisms associated with droughts, floods and cyclones are changing. And no geologist is claiming that the earth movements associated with earthquakes, volcanoes and tsunami (earthquake waves) are becoming more violent." Similarly, the book Earthshock observes: "The rocks of every continent contain a record of innumerable major and minor geological events, every one of which would be a catastrophic disaster to mankind if they occurred today-and it is scientifically certain that such events will occur again and again in the future." In other words, the earth and its dynamic forces have more or less remained the same throughout the ages. Hence, whether or not some statistics indicate an increase of some forms of geologic or other activity, the earth has not become uncontrollably violent in recent times. (bold lines mine)
