I require everyone to remove their shoes while in my house. I didn't pay $2000 for carpetting for it to get ruined by other people's dirty shoes. When you're in someone elses house you abide by their rules and respect them as the master of their home. If it offends you then you can leave. I had to put my (bare) foot down with my father-in-law when we moved to our new house.
He wore his work boots in our old house all the time and the carpet looked like a freakin auto garage. I told him that I had to spend $75 on a carpet cleaner rental and I was NOT going to have my brand new carpet in my brand new house looking like crap. He has tried to push it by sneaking around in his boots but me or my fiance get on him and he stops.
He also smokes cigars and in the old house he would smoke in the garage and he just KILLED that garage at the old house. We have plans on converting our new garage into an actual room and we have told him absolutley NO SMOKING in the garage. If he wants to smoke he will have to do it outside on the deck or the front porch. He has tried to push this also but he has been caught and doesn't do that anymore either.
Just ask youselves this question: If you smoke and you're in the house of someone who does not smoke, would you consider it rude for them to tell you NO SMOKING in their house? If you wouldn't consider this rude why would you consider the NO SHOES rule rude? You must abide by the rules of the householder.

What about pygmies and nomads?
by figureheaduk indoes anyone know if the wt believes that the nomadic tribes in africa and the pygmy tribes living in the rainforests will be destroyed at armageddon( tm)?
since these people have been living more or less the same simple lives for thousands of years in some of the remotest parts of the world, and also i guess there would be a problem with the language barrier, i'd take it that the wt hasn't really been able to spread it's false prophecies and dangerous medical and psychological practices, sorry - i meant "good news" in these parts of the world.

This was one of the questions I asked to the elders and his response was yes they would be. I asked, "Why would God allow that if you say it's our responsibility to get the word out and we just didn't get it to them yet?" He said that God would allow sufficient time to get the word out and even if we didn't get to some people that might live out in the middle of nowhere and haven't heard "the truth" yet it's still their responsibility to live according to the "truth." But then I said, "Wouldn't that mean they'd be relying on their own understandiing? Isn't that wrong? As you say, everyone needs to rely on the society for their truth. If they haven't been notified and been given the chance to make a choice it wouldn't matter if they WERE living by Gods laws exactly as in the bible because they aren't getting their knowlege from the society. Their getting it from the bible. So that would make it our responsibility and we would be bloodguilty for their deaths. Isn't that so?"
He just passed it off with "Well Jehovah will make sure everyone gets the chance to choose."
But my underlying point was that even if they do everything according to the BIBLE and they get their information from the BIBLE they would still be condemned to death by the JW's because they weren't getting the info from the FDS. Thereby saying that they supercede the BIBLE.

So basically they are threatening you saying if you don't look at every little scripture then you could be killed for it. More brainwashing!

While I have personally had alot of spirit activity around me when I was a child I will have to say that, at least I could verify my own personal experiences. But some of these JW demonic happenings are just pure urban legends. Everyone always has a best friend that everything always happens to.
One of the things I heard happening was a young boy started studying with the JW's and he took his Live Forever book to a graveyard and started reading aloud from and and taunting the demons saying they will die during the battle of Armageddon. Then a voice answered back, "Yes, but you won't even live to see it." and the boy ran home and he died the next week.
Crap.

How a child's mind works
by Mulan inprincess posted this on another thread, but it looks like not many are reading it.
i hope simon forgives me for putting it in a new thread.
i thought it was so great to see how children think about things, if they aren't "brainwashed" from infancy.so a few weeks ago my four year old daughter was asking questions about jesus and decided she wanted to see a picture of him.

A few things I find interesting about the garden of eden story is that it says Adam and Eve didn't even notice the fruit on the tree until it was pointed out to them and only then did they desire to eat it.
Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there a verse in the bible that says that God sheilded his eyes from knowing the future of adam and eve, as to whether they would disobey him or not. I seem to remember seeing this. That he did not look into the future to see that they would sin and that he would have to kill them. I guess he just wanted to be surprised.

by ColdRedRain in.
i don't know if anybody has noticed yet, but today, i folded in the cover of the "draw close to jehovah" book and i noticed the bible turns into a pyramid, the clouds turn into a masonic "s" on top of that pyramid and "jehovah" becomes "jah".. freaky....

Again, every day I come here I get more and more shocked and disturbed. Can it be any clearer that this is NOT God's organization? This is bordering on CREEPY!

Before he gets a domain name he should do some studying on how to properly layout a website. That is just so badly laidout!
