I remember them saying that when they made the rule that no JW could smoke back in the 70's that also meant that anyone working or profiting from anything tobacco related were reproved or DF'd. Now here they are owning stock in big tobacco. Who woulda thunk it?

Removed from being an elder for being over weight?
by frankiespeakin inin the waterbury conneticut area there was a circut overseer named caramelous (greek name not sure of spelling).
this brother more than 30 years back was having all the congregation servants removed because they where over weight.
i guess they used not moderate in habits (eating too much) as a scriptural reason.

Things get bad on the opposite side of the fence as well. In Greenfield, MA an elder DF'd his OWN DAUGHTER because she was either anorexic or bolemic. From what I heard the reasons for her DFing were because of overexcessive VANITY. Ehhhh these assholes need to be taught that this is a [edit] disease that needs treatment! [Removed].

Can YOU Determine A "Real Apostate" From A "Fake Apostate"?
by minimus inso often , on this board, we see imposters claiming to be interested in learning the truth about the "truth".
they may seem to genuinely want to know things and they might ask thought-provoking questions.....so how do you know if the person you're dealing with is the real deal or not??
any tips to help us know who those "fake apostates" are??

Happy Guy and Rosscoe, thanks for your input. Yes, I kinda view the WBTS (and a few other religions) as modern day Pharisees who have lost the meaning of true worship and have gained so much popularity among their own peers that their own pride has deafened their eyes and ears to the truth. In situations as these there will ALWAYS be those who will up and leave or stage an outright revolt against these worshippers of self. And it is always the case where these revolters are labeled as a heretic or apostate.
But like I said, if so many other good and decent people, especially Jesus Christ Himself, are labeled as such then how can it really be a bad thing? I would say "Thank you," to any witness that labels me as such because yes, although I was a member, I kept my eyes and ears open for all truths and my mind was kept open so that if I found problems with what others claim to be truths that I could discern for myself if this was in fact truth or lies. Because I never truely closed my mind, ears and eyes I was able to ask questions concerning these glaring contradictions and demand an answer for them. "If you men are truely shepards then tend to your flock's needs! Answer my questions! If you don't answer my questions then you are FORCING me to rely upon my own understandings and you all proclaim that this is not the thing to do. But if you won't answer me then you are forcing a sheep of your flock to break away from the herd and wander about unattended and by the definition of your title you are not allowed to do that. So who's understandings shall I rely upon? Yours? Or mine? It's your choice."
Because they refused to answer me and told me to keep my mouth shut or I would be considered an apostate then I realised that this title wouldn't be a bad thing since they don't have truth as their main concern. They want to hide the truth thinking they can hide the contradictions along with it. But in this modern age of information it is almost impossible to hide very much.

The dictionary says the definition is: One who has forsaken the faith, principles, or party, to
which he before adhered; esp., one who has forsaken his
religion for another; a pervert; a renegade.
So I guess every single religion, including JW's AND including Jesus Christ HIMSELF is considered an apostate. Every religious faction is usually the result of a breaking off of the main religion or from someone creating their own as a result of them not liking the direction of their original religion. And Jesus' main religion was Jewish yet he preached a different message than that of the Jews and he was the foundation of Christianity. So if Jesus himself is considered an apostate by the very definition of the word how can it be considered a bad thing?

Is anyone else here creeped out by her relative saying "Just do it. Just come back," as if to say, "Don't think about it. Just do it." That is very scary thinking. To expect someone to come back to an organization just so you can have these idiots back in their lives. If they are not willing to include you in their lives now then any inclussion afterward would be so obviously fake. Good job in breaking free and making your stand.

Anyone that thinks differently than the collective is an apostate. Anyone that has proof showing that the collective is wrong is an apostate and so is the proof. Anyone that stands in opposition to the org and its belief system is an apostate. Anyone that challenges another's thinking with the real facts about the org is an apostate. Anyone that asks questions that seem to dig into the org's hypocrasy is an apostate.
How do you know if the person you're dealing with is real or not? If they are even on this website and they even learn anything they are apostate just for being here. Look at their post history. If they have any posts that show disgust towards the org or question their motives then they are apostate.
Of course, the org's definition of apostacy is drastically skewed from its true meaning so if you want to find out who is and who isn't an apostate you would need to review the proper definition of the word.

Stem cells help paralysed woman walk http://smh.com.au/news/World/Stem-cells-help-paralysed-woman-walk/2004/11/28/1101577355824.html?oneclick=true ( you need to register to read it but I'll print it here)
Seoul: A South Korean woman paralysed for 20 years is walking again after scientists say they repaired her damaged spine using stem cells derived from umbilical cord blood.
Hwang Mi-soon, 37, had been bedridden since damaging her back in an accident. Last week she walked again with the help of a walking frame at a press conference where South Korea researchers announced the results of their stem cell therapy.
They said it was the world's first published case in which a patient with spinal cord injuries had been successfully treated with stem cells from umbilical cord blood.
Although they cautioned that more research was needed and verification from international experts was required, the South Korean researchers said Ms Hwang's case could signal a leap forward in the treatment of spinal cord injuries.
The use of stem cells from cord blood could also point to a way to sidestep the ethical dispute over the controversial use of embryos in embryonic stem cell research.
"We have glimpsed at a silver lining over the horizon," said Song Chang-hoon, a member of the research team and a professor at Chosun University's medical school in the south-western city of Kwangju. "We were all surprised at the fast improvements in the patient."
Under TV lights and flashing cameras, Ms Hwang stood up from her wheelchair and shuffled forward and back a few paces with the help of the frame.
"This is already a miracle for me," she said. "I never dreamed of getting to my feet again."
Research has shown stem cells can develop into replacement cells for damaged organs or body parts.
So-called "multipotent" stem cells - those found in cord blood - are capable of forming a limited number of specialised cell types, unlike the more versatile "undifferentiated" cells that are derived from embryos.
However, these stem cells isolated from umbilical cord blood have emerged as an ethical and safe alternative to embryonic stem cells. My opinion this matter is that anyone that is against stem-cell research should not be able to benefit from it when treatments are discovered and developed. Afterall we wouldn't want people to turn into hypocrits now would we? If they are known for their rigid stance against abortion and stem-cell research then they shouldn't benefit from it at all. After all, if they want to throw God into the public's face and act all holy and self-righteous in their stance against it then it would only be right for them to carry that belief all the way through to the end. Don't say it's evil to do the research and then try to come up with some justification as to why you should partake in the treatment from that research.
Once this becomes the norm and alot of people get cured because of this research then the religious right will shut their damned, stupid mouths. Especially if any of these idiots becomes paralized. It's funny how one's opinions change when something tragic happens to them. -

I find it interesting that they are so worried about members leaving the org if they read anything bad about it on the internet. If there was nothing wrong with the org there wouldn't be anything bad printed about it, would there? If it was all lies then why is it that 99% if the sites about JWs are negative?
