  i have been having more arguments with an old witness friend of mine who has turned into my arch enemy because i chose to be with a woman that he was trying to convert.

  anyway, as part of his argument against me he said something to the effect of "if you claim to follow jesus then you should know you're just following a man who was a drunkard and a sabath.

  breaker.

  Death wiping away you sins

  from what i remember one of the dubs most important doctrines is that when you die your sins are wiped clean because the wages of sin is death.

  so when you die you can no longer be judged on your sins because you have paid the price for those sins with your death.

  if this is the case i have a couple of problems with that.. #1: they are placing the value of your death above the value of jesus' death.

  Typical conflicted behavior from a typical Witness

  i used to be a member of the shelburne falls ma congregation and i'm not afraid of anyone from there finding out about what i write.

  i used to be friends with a guy we shall call den.

  we were friends for 10 years and through that 10 years he would bounce back and forth between wanting to be ultra religious and being worldly.

  Holiday excuses vs. corruption excuses

  ok. jw's always say that the reason they don't celebrate any holidays is because they have some root in evil or satanic or pagan things.

  christmas was a pagan festivul, halloween is a pagan ritual, birthdays are bad because 2 people were killed in the bible during a birthday celebration, mothers day is because of goddess worship etc etc etc.

  but if belonging to something or practicing something is wrong because of it's evil past and there is no excuse good enough to celebrate or practice any of those things why is ok to keep serving the wtbs?

  The Light

  you know those anti smoking comercials the truth?

  how they expose the inner workings of the tobacco companies, taking memos and comparing them to what is said to the public.... let's come up with a series of comercials that expose the wtbs and call it the light.

  it could say things like, "for the last 115 years the wtbs has been saying that god's war of armageddon is coming soon and would happen before the genereation of 1914 passes away.

  The reason why I condemn the witnesses

  i once engaged in a debate about why the catholic church was a totally corrupt organization and is bloodguilty for hundreds of years of murder and deciet and one half-assed "i'm sorry" is not going to make up for it.

  not even a thousand sorries will make up for it.

  after visiting here and seeing all the horrible experiences you all have had i now apply the debate to the witnesses as well.

  I just watched the BBC documentary

  i just watched one of the bbc documentaries on the jw abuse scandals and i just discovered a very glaring contradiction in their responses.

  people goto the elders and report that they are being molested by their fathers.

  the elders respond by saying 'leave it for jehovah to handle.

  What is this "light getting brighter" crap??!!

  what is it with the term "the light is getting bright and brighter" being to used to explain "new understandings"?

  what is with these new understandings to begin with??!!

  if this was truley god's true organization there would not be any new understandings.

  They renounced the Blood Transfusion issue??!!

  they have changed their mind about the issue of blood transfusions and have made it a non-disfellowshipping act!

  while i never agreed with it to begin with i think this is crazy.

  i used to be a jw for a few years but i left it behind like a pair of dirty underwear.

  at first it seemed good.

  the people were all very nice and inviting (of course they would be), the teachings seemed logical.
