ATTN: Where does the dough go?
by Vita Nuova inthe equation: voluntary workforce + minimal publication costs + minimal building costs + sweet crazy money - charity involvement = $????.
i am seeking factual evidence or documented information on the watchtower society's accumulated financial wealth, which they apparently just seem to be sitting on.
i have a jw coworker (a good guy) whose "kryptonite" may just prove to be his curiosity concerning the wbts's big fat juicy hoard of cash.

How long do you think being a JW will affect you?
by Adam ini haven't been on this board for a while.
i've been on a conservative ezboard trying to see if we can't do something about political issues.
i've also got a new job, had to get the car fixed, been best man in a wedding, and watched the two towers on vhs.

Applying for a job, did you tell interviewers that you were a JW ???
by run dont walk inwhen going for a interview, did you tell the interviewer that you were a jw , and couldn't work meeting nights.
did you think being theocratic would help you get the job ???.
or were you the type to take the job, so you could miss the meetings.

I have at times wondered, though, whether 30 years as a JW might be regarded as a plus when interviewing for a sales job.
Yep -- if you can sell that crap you can sell anything and that would make you a master salesman- -good at presentations - all that theocratic ministry school training done you the world of good

I would like advice from the women on this forum
by Eric ini don't believe i've ever started a topic here before.. ladies, ever wanted to play "matchmaker" or "advice for the lovelorn"?
well, i've got a situation that has me going in circles.
it's something i'm also talking about with the realtime women friends in my life, and they've been just great, but there is also huge resource of fabulous women here on jwd that will know about that other intangible aspect of our x-jw involvement and how it affects people, relationships and families, that the women i know will never quite grasp.. it is not, however, something i choose to discuss here.

Learning The Language.
by Englishman ina few moments ago, in the chat room, reference was made to a tv series called "mi 5".
now simon, little toe and myself had never heard of it, even though it's a brit programme.
reason is, because in the uk, it's simply called "spooks".. it was immediately pointed out to us that this is a derogatory term in the us, although over here it simply means "ghosts".. so, ladeez and gentlemen, .

I've heard all about you!
by SM62 ini have heard about this forum from someone, but i won't say who as i don't want to expose them.
i am in the process of evaluating my life as a jw.
it has been a pretty sad life - without a real feeling of 'belonging'.

welcome -- you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free --- everyones view accepted here -- there will be disagreements -- but in the WT -- no other opinions were tolerated --by the way I am "still in the truth" and still report every month -- and am still considered in good standing -- everyone on the board can contribute something

Troublesome Trinity Verses Part 2
by hooberus inon a previous thread many other "troublesome" verses have been brought up.
i will take some of these and start theads for them.
due to the complexity of the subject, several threads each covering one or two verses will be started, lord willing.

Sounds like the Arian controversy of the 3rd and 4th centuries all over again -- and the the pagan decided that after all Jesus was of the same substance as the father -- the scriptures wre put together by the early church fathers and they put in what they wanted -- and we have had trinity doctrines all through the Years -- Osiris begat Horua and Horus became God therefore Osiris was Horus -- Egyptian Trinity --- Isis, Osiris and Horus -- what a loada of crap the trinity doctrine is -- could never belong to a religion that believed in the Trinity

Troublesome Trinity Verses Part 1
by hooberus inin this series i hope to discuss some common verses used by the watchtower to "disprove" the trinity and deity of the lord jesus christ.
the first one is 1 corinthians 8:6: .
"but to us there is but one god, the father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one lord jesus christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

The Trinity is the most farcical obnoxious doctrine of all religions --- who was Jesus praying to when he prayed -himself? You all should read a great book sometime forgotten the author
When Jesus became God
It is the one doctrine I am absolutely convinced JWs have correct
