In Search of Christian Freedom
by berylblue infranz stated something in this mind-blowing book which was definitely true for me.. he stated (this is a poor paraphrase) that very early on during a "study", witnesses can easily show what's in the bible regarding god's name, the condition of the dead, living on paradise earth, etc.
once these are proven to a person's satisfaction, when the study moves on to more complicated matters, it is just easier to accept what isn't understood on the basis that so far, everything has seemed true.
by now, there is an emotional investment -and everything up until now seemed fine, so.....................................let's swallow it all, and what is too difficult to swallow comfortably (blood?

Who Wrote The Bible
by stillajwexelder ini have just finished reading for the 2nd time "who wrote the bible" by friedman and american professor but first published in london.
he gives solid evidence that the pentateuch was written by 4 writers who are called j, e, p and d --- and so on -- traditionally of course written by moses.
my question is 2-fold .

Yerusalyim -- there are lots of things that troubled me -- Moses saying he was the meeket man on earth - -tha account of his own death -- the mix and match of verses -- but as aJW it was absolutely banged into my head that "where else is there for us to go " etc.. I found a way of ignoring these questions -- all I can say is -- I never will again until the day I die

Was the Holy Spirit part of Jesus or a force controlled by God
by shotgun inthe account where the woman with the blood flow touched jesus outer garment and was cured interests me.. jesus felt the power leave him and looked to see who touched him.
if the holy spirit was an active force seperate and controlled by god why would jesus have felt a power drain.. if you consider most of jesus healings to be a placebo which only healed people who believed like present day faith healers do this account sheds a different perspective.. if you believe jesus was god and all powerful it seems strange that he would notice the insignicant power needed to stop a flow of blood considering the awesome displays of power which never seemed to bother him(calming a storm, replacing a severed ear, raising the dead, feeding thousands with basically nothing..although my mom could do that too).
what are your thoughts...yes you too mr canon...not too long though...ok...remember kiss

IS IT PROPER TO RISE FOR A WOMAN ?
by minimus inthe 4-15-52 wt.
says it is by satanic design to untheocratically elevate the woman above the man.tipping your hat to a woman could possibly lead to improper advances.it sets a woman apart because of her sex.it is subtly disguised creature worship!.
more wisdom from the faithful slave.......

WTS SAYS ELDERS SINS DON'T COUNT!
by Amazing insometime ago i posted a discussion on h20 about the nov. 1991 kingdom ministry school for elders / ms held at woodburn, oregon.
during that school session the co stated that elders who commit a serious sin, even a gross sin, did not have to be removed if the event took place two or three years prior, and the elder continued to be respected, giving evidence of jehovahs blessing.
the co stipulated that this only applied to elders and ms and not to regular publishers.

Ever regret having kids? Honestly!
by Ariell inthis is a thread from ivillage.
the admission from these women is a real eye opener.
i think it's easier for a mother to be more honest when she's talking to other mothers.

What Makes A Person A Potential "Apostate"?
by minimus inthe more i think about things, the more i believe that i have been, as the society likes to say, "courting sin".
for years, i've questioned internally, the policies of the watchtower, the teachings, the directives of co's and do's and the overall "attitude" of jw's.
mind you, no one would have ever thought that i didn't believe this is without a doubt the "truth".

........I wonder how many out there are potential "apostates" by the Watchtower's standards. I wonder how many are willing to help others get out of this false religion.
I remeber Ray Franz on this -- apostasized from what -- the organization yes -- but many of us here have not apostasized from the bible -- I know that is a question of semantics - but I am obviously and probably always was a potential apostate -inquiring mind and all that good stuff -- I still do not think I have apostasized from the bible -- I think the WTBTS has done that
