JW's in the cinema

there is this funny anecdote i remember from my jw days that i would like to tell:.

in the mid seventies there was a french movie released over here about .

the story of david & goliath,and some jw's of our congregation wanted to see it.. now this movie of which i forgot the title was nothing special but as is usual .

I remember going to see a PG-13 movie with a group of Jdubs when I was about 15 years old. The MS servant that was with us had us all walk out of the theatre.

The movie was about a family with a young teenager I believe. I think a joke was made about masturbation. I cannot even remember what movie it was.

One of the older sisters that was with us was so proud of him for making us all leave and waste our money on a movie we couldn't finish watching.

I don't even know what this lady was doing with us. The age group was 15 - 25 and then her a 45ish holier-than-thou-self

I am still making up for all the movies I never watched because they were rated R.

I never dated a witness guy. I do remember going along with my sister and her husband while they were dating.

I hated chaperoning them. I was 17 and I always felt uncomfortable for them and me. I couldn't take that. A chaperon, c’mom how ridiculous is that!

Even though my sis dragged people along with her on her dates she sure found time to be alone with her soon-to-be-hubby in her car parked right out in front of our house. And they were not just talking.

They were "seriously dating". Needless to say they had a very short dating period and engagement.

Should "the other woman" be considered an acomplice before the fact?

here is a thougth.

if this peterson yutz is found guilty of murdering his wife and child, should the gal he was cheating with take some of the blame?

if it comes up that lacey was killed because she found out about the affair, doesn't that implicate the other woman?

like others have said the other woman didn't even know Scott was married. According to reports here, she heard the news that Laci was missing and she was Scott's wife so she came forward to police.

I don't think she even knew he was married until the news broke the story. Scott Peterson told her he was in France ? for Chrismas on a business trip.

And even if she did know he was married she shouldn't be accountable. having an affair is not a crime. Scott is the guilty party (IMHO) he should pay the ultimate price for murdering his wife and unborn child.

The Dixie Chicks

i don't understand the logic of boycotting the dixie chicks because of the comments the singer made about being ashamed that bush is from texas.

it doesn't make sense to me.

keep in mind that i'm just a canadian, so maybe i'm just not tuned in to the american way of thinking.

Should the Dixie chicks be treated as they are; probably not. However, something else that cannot be denied is that they are incredibly stupid. I think if they had actual criticisms of the war and expressed them in a way that was not an insult to the president, they would not be in the current state they are in.

I wouldn't go so far as to boycott there music at least not for too long. I was upset with them at first but it was more for them saying something than for what they said.

I get so annoyed with many entertainers who think they can make all these uninformed comments about politics.

If the Dixie Chicks (mainly Natalie Maines) had any common sense they would have kept their big traps shut.

They are still playing there music out here in California at least on the Los Angeles Station.

I hate their version of Landslide!!! At least Natalie Maines singing it. I do like a lot of their music its just the Landslide song, I think her voice is too annoying for that song.

The new kid

i'm new to this site - have been checking it out for the past few nights.

i was raised as a jw from the age of 6. i am now 26 and have two children.

being in the truth was always a rather conflicting thing for me.

Your story was interesting and not too long at all. Thank you for sharing. I am happy for you and your mother. She did an amazing thing going back to school and becoming a teacher. I am so encouraged by your story.

Now if you don't mind...........and if you do sorry................

It sounds like you still care for your husband deeply. Have you two tried counseling? Just wondering. I hate to see marriaged end especially when there is still hope. It sounds to me like their is still hope fo you two. Just something to think about.

since my red wings tanked so bad and toronto is not looking real good either i am going to start watching basketball.

my pistons are a #1 seed in the eastern conferance and they start the series today against the orlando magic..oh no another disney team!

if there is a god maybe he can save detroit against the demon that is disney!

I agree the fresh faces and new talent is great to see.

But the fact is Lakers are the best and they will prove it once again this year.

The East doesn't measure up to the West.

Scott Peterson.....What's Up?

the horrible murder and mutilation of laci peterson and the death of her baby boy, connor, has been in the news a very long time.

now the bodies have been found and identified--and finally, scott has been arrested and charged.. there is just something very strange about all of this, and i was hoping someone might have some information.

from scott's expressions and behavior, it appears as if he is guilty, but has no remorse.

He is still presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. If found guilty and convicted by a jury of his peers, he will hopefully get what’s coming to him.

It is more like guilty until proven innocent.

If this guy is innocent (which I highly doubt) then I will be the first to write him an apology letter.

He has acted guilty from the beginning of this whole ordeal. According to news out here in Cali. the police had a theory from the beginning. They wanted to make an arrest before the bodies were found but the DA said no not without the bodies because the case is too circumstantial.

Some reports say according to the Modesto PD Scott was building cement bricks days before Laci turned up missing.

For All You Laker Haters:

Lakers all the way!!!! Did somebody say 4peat? How can you be tired of them winning? If it were your team winning over and over you wouldn't be saying that. They are the best team in the NBA and will be for a long time.

GET USED OF IT!!!!!!!!!

If by some crazy chance Lakers don't make it I hope it will be San Antonio as the New World Champs.
