JW Superstitions
by sandy inyesterday i got home and i realized i accidentally brought a necklace with a cross on it from my boyfriend's house.. it was in a regular brown paper bag i put some of my things in.
i was lying in bed last night thinking about it wondering if i should take it outside.
i was afraid the demons were going to invade my house.. i decided to leave my tv on all night because we all know the demons will not bother you if your light or tv is on.

That reminds me of my JW cousin, she told my dad that the Janet Jackson Rhythm Nation album was demonic because of one song on there. It was called something like Black......I cannot even remember. My dad made my sister get rid of it. Then a couple of months later my cousin had the album in her collection because she liked some other song off the album.

Bad Elder Stories
by shamus in.
what was the worst elder that you ever had to deal with?
i will post my story in a second...

One time while out in field service this MS brother asked me where I wanted to stop for lunch. Well before I could even answer this low-life-asshole new young elder made one of his stupidest comment ever!!!
He said (and I cannot remember his exact words) Bro so-in-so sisters need to be in subjection .... blah blah blah... we need to make the decision.
Oh my God, I still cannot believe that idiot said that. What a freaking jerk!!! I may have laughed at it if anybody else would have said it. This idiot was so full of himself and his position he was actually serious. Later on the MS brother apologized to me in private on his behalf. I just said to him "Don't worry about it. It's not your fault the guy is a complete jerk for lack of a better term".

How Many Here Are DF'd, Disassociated Or Not Worried That They Might?
by minimus ini'm curious as to whether the majority of the board's disfellowshipped.
and i'm curious as to whether or not push came to shove, that you would not be overly distressed if you did wind up getting df'd........as time goes on, i am caring less.

I have been faded for the past 4 years. The elders have not bothered me in two years. A couple of weeks ago they were visiting my house giving my sister a sheparding call and I heard them ask for me. Thank God my sister did not know I was home or else she would have called me to the front room.
I was already planning to fake that I was asleep or sick then I heard her say she isn't home.
My siblings minus 1 are active. My parents attend sunday meetings only.
Undecided said:
've sort of give up on religion and trying to figure out God. I just try to have a sense of respect for the creation and whatever was responsible for it, although at times I get a little aggravated at him because of all the bad things that nature throws at mankind and animals.
I feel the exact same way. -

Kingdom Hall Spankings
by JH inmost meetings i went to, children were brought to the washrooms in the back to be disciplined.
often i could hear a child yell or cry due to the spanking given by the parent.
people in the hall would have that look on their face meaning that it was alright to discipline a child by spanking him.

My siblings and I were hardly ever hit. Just my parents saying "stop now or I'll spank you" was usually enough to set us straight. Some of my siblings were hit more often.
We were always fighting with each other. My parents would ask us who started it and since we all blamed each other they would make us all line up so we could get a spanking but they hardly ever went through with it. We would be standing there all scared almost in tears, then they would ask us did you learn your lesson. We would say yes, then we were sent to our rooms. We all turned out ok. Of course the baby of the family is spoiled rotten.
My bros. would get spanked more often. They were always fighting. More than spankings though my parents would make them verbally apologize, say "I love you" to each other and then make them hug or shake hands depending on how badly they were fighting.
I know I will never beat my children or allow myself to hit them while I am angry.
I work for the Department of Children and Family Services and I see too many cases of abuse everyday. It is really sad to see so many children suffering abuse of all sorts at the hands of their very own parents.

If Your JW Relative Needed Blood, Would You Force It On Them?
by minimus indue to the fact that most of us do not feel that it is scripturally wrong to take blood, if your relative was told that they needed a transfusion and you could see that they get it, even if it's against their wishes, would you force blood into them??
?

If they are adults then I probably would not. I cannot say for sure, a decision like that would be incredibly hard to make

I'll Pray for you. What's your feelings when someone says that to you?
by El Kabong infor those of us who left organized religion, how does it make you feel when a xtian says they will pray for you because you don't believe the same as they do?
personally, in my opinion, that is a very obnoxious statement, especially if i don't ask or want someone to pray for me.
to me, that's saying that i am wrong and they are right, and they are praying to god that i will see things their way.

sandy
Yes this does bother. I think that prayer is a waste of time. I don't believe God is listening to any prayers so I feel like telling people don't bother.
A long lost friend of mine that is born-again christian used to say this to me quite often. We used to discuss religion all the time. When I was no longer active as a JW she was really sad for me like I was a poor lost soul.
She would always tell me "I'll pray for you". I felt like telling her what the F*** for! I was just so annoyed at the fact that she thought she was so much better than me because she has the "Lord" and I don't.
She was always trying to encourage me to go back to the meetings. That was kind of odd to me though. She never tried to get me to believe her religion. She just wanted me to have some kind of religion in my life.
