A womans tears
by Maverick inthis is really for the guys, but i know the woman here will have some great insights for us stupid men so i hope y-all will offer up your best.. when the woman i am with starts to tear up or cry i feel totally helpless and useless.
this is one of the most dreaded situations i as a man can ever find myself in.
my older brother, the retired police chief, would get angry if a woman started to cry when he was writing her a ticket, he felt it was an act.

Help Please!!!!
by sandy inmy niece announced to the entire family she is disfellowshipped and i got t cornered.. i was in the room when she told the family (dumb me being nosey) and my family started asking me questions about going back to the meetings.. i told them i do not believe in organized religion and some days i doubt the biblical existance of god.
i told them about the un scandal and they do not believe it.. they think it is a plot by satan somehow to mislead people away from the organization.
after being cornered by five of them i went into my shell and didn't defend my thoughts very well.

A 28 year old adult should not have to defend or even explain her feelings about religion to anyone. Mav ..Tell them to MYOB!

God love the Scottish!
LT I too am please with the honesty in the responses to this topic! I really wanted to know if was the only guy who froze when the tears flowed.
I will say this, in an all male setting, men do not handle another man crying well. They will get harsh and downright hostile to some guy crying. (Not over a death or some other tragic situation). Mav

SP, you feel how you feel. Who can say what is or is not a detirment to society?
Other people crying has a powerful effect on us. I hate seeing a man cry over a relationship, I see it as weak, so do you apparently. I love seeing a woman tear up when I do something very right, conversely, I can think of few things that bother me more than knowing I caused a womans tears because of some bone-head thing I've done.
It unnerves me when I see my daughter cry. I am very uncomfortable with seeing people in general crying. As a man I don't know what to do, or how to respond, or if I should even do anything. Many of the ladies brought out the John Gray points on us guys being Mr. Fix-it. I liked the Hug suggestions, but as you, SP brought out, if the lady is pissed and that caused her to cry, my trying to hug her is gonna get me slugged!
There is no right or wrong answer, this is an open question and I do appreciate all the responses. This gives me a baseline to reference from. Men don't talk to each other about this kind of thing. We are generally clueless about this sort of thing.
Edited to add, Great stuff ballistic! Mav

Thanks for the imput SP. I don't think your feelings are archaic, my gut tells me not to cry in front of women. It's not a display of strength. A tear of compassion or tenderness will not diminish a man, but a lack of emotional control in a relationship will. Mav

Who would go to *your* funeral?
by Country Girl infor those of you that are disfellowshipped, disassociated, a fader, or formerly non-baptized publishers.. if you had your funeral in a church, would your jw friends or relatives come to it?
i was telling him the other day that i want to have my funeral service in my church, and that my jw relatives would *not* come to it.

Xena I wonder if LT did not BELIEVE these women when they said they have no problem with a mans crying? I would never cast aspersions on anyones veracity but I don't plan on ever putting those women to the test by sobbing in front of them. Over time, certain ones like you and SP and Robdar are known as very direct and no BS ladies, (and I am taking nothing away from all the other great people who commented here on this topic). But you gals hold nothing back, men understand this because this is how we are with each other. As I said , I personaly have a problem with men crying, but its a womans tears that scare the Hell out of me. Poke me in the eye with a stick! Anything but a womans tears! Mav
