I went to a birthday party last weekend...and sadly there were some heads removed....
...from the tops of frosty mugs of beer!
Now that I think about it we were all in a sense, "cupbearers."

i was reading through the new kids book released at the assembly, and couldn't help but notice the chapter on birthdays.
it went on to explain that people were beheaded at birthdays, and that god never said to celebrate them.
it then quoted the catholic encyclopedia as stating "only sinners... make great rejoicings over the day on which they were born" .

He seems self absorbed, and constantly craving the reassurance of human worship. At the same time he is the ultimate deadbeat dad, leaving his human children to suffer until he's good and ready to step in and end suffering.
He hated it when David took a census of the people, and to show his kids how much this displeased him he killed 70,000 of his chosen people. (2 Sam 24:15) Then to add to the weirdness of his character, he quickly feels regret over the calamity. I guess this is the godly equivilant to punching a wall.
Based on this one instance I would say he was a real jerk. If he was real.

as i was growing up in the troof.
there were sayings used over and over again to control my behaviour.
the biblical on bad associations spoil useful habits and another on just because everyone else does it doesnt mean you have to do it to, would you jump off a cliff just because other people do what were the sayings that bugged you?
...hence.

Even when I was actively reading the Awake! magazine, I realized that the formula is as follows...
1. Showcase scary current event or issue of concern..
2. Dribble out a few factoids about said scary event or issue..
3. Point to God's Kingdom (tm.) as the solution..
Every damn issue, same formula...

i feel the need to express how i feel and felt about my life as a gay man.
i was brought up from birth as a jehovahs witness.
this has played a major part in my life and it has been a real struggle to get past.
Your strength really shines through in your inspiring story.
Now that you are free from all the JW mumbo-jumbo, you can be true to your authentic self..
Bravo!

what, in your opinion, is the worst thing that the society has released?
(book / tract / video / audio cassette)
My vote for worst release is a two way tie...
1. The two Isaiah books. The explanations of prophecy had no continuity, and were obviously made up.
2. That awful Kingdom Melodies cd where an old guys sings. I wonder how many witnesses got past that first track.

what 'jesus hoax' could mean for mideast antiques.
once hailed as biblical proof, forged antiquities now raise questions about other artifacts in israeli museums.

i was at the convention today, and noticed a number of interesting points in the program.. 1cor 10:31; "therefore, whatever you are eating and drinking or doing anything else, do all things to gods glory.
" they said that everything that we do is up to our conscience, but how would what we are doing reflect on jehovah.
at the same time they said jehovah is not a dictator.... "pay more than the usual attention.
This is my first year of not going to the District Convention..
In reading the posts about what is being discussed at the sessions, I am so amazed!
Their message is such a weird mixture of "we are the chosen few", and "do more do more."
This always left me with such a blend of guilt for not doing more, and false pride for being part of the few on earth who have the "truth".
I do not miss it!
