  I understand your reasoning and yes, doctrinally speaking the era continues but the younger GB members have lost well over a century of learning and experience from the older GM members who have died off. They were not around during the key moments of the WT society.

  The loss of the collective experience of the older governing body members must surely be a blow. To whom do the newer GB members look to for direction?

  The WTS leadership is floundering, trying new things, such as reducing meetings and eliminating the book study which was considered the historical foundation for the Society's humble beginnings. Branch closures, layoffs, reduced membership; all these things weigh on the collective minds of the remaining members.

  Devoid of spiritual insight, all the younger members of the Governing Body can now do is simply keep the machine running.

  The reported death of Governing Body member Bro. Barr marks the end of an era. Many of the original members of the Governing Body were around during the days of President Rutherford. They saw the Society grow from its infancy to the huge empire that it is today.

  Their policies and procedures affected the lives of millions of their followers. So absolute was their certainty that the organization was chosen by Jehovah to survive the coming Tribulation and the war of Armaggedon that they rode roughshod over all opposition to their failed prophecies.

  They are responsible for the deaths of thousands of individuals who died over the blood policy, not to mention the untold number of people who were drive to suicide or other desperate acts due to their doctrine and policies.

  Regardless of how approachable they may have been, how "humble" they were perceived, how grandfatherly they appeared in their old age, these men have blood on their hands.

  They did not live to see the promise of a peaceful new world that they taught generations of their followers. Their hopes and dreams died with them.

  All that is left of their once mighty empire, the New World Society, is a legacy of broken promises.

  Now the old guard have passed on, only seven members remain, none of whom lived during the turbulent Rutherford years.

  Does the WT distribute to those in need? Think layoffs, no more unemployment checks, foreclosures

  the wt claims to be like the original christians of the first century.. if that is true, then it would be obvious to all that they follow the examples given in these two scriptures below:.

  acts 2:45 "they sold their property and possessions and shared the money with those in need.".

  acts 4:35 "there were no needy persons among them.

  Acts 4:35 "There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need.

  Do you know of anyone who fell on hard times, especially during this recession, who directly benefited from Kingdom Hall general funds? Is it difficult to get material assistance from the congregation?

  I have heard of brothers (New Jersey) who lost their jobs and had their homes foreclosed on. Some moved in with family/friends.

  I am sure some of the friends will lose their unemployment checks; how will they manage? Will the WT distribute to those in need?

  if most jw's are window washers, what other occupations are considered the type of jobs that a witless would have.

  Agonus,

  You make some excellent points. Any talents a brother or sister has are generally not utilized because they are told they should be pursuing spiritual interests.

  Some of the friends can play musical instruments and draw but you hardly ever see them doing what they're good at, except on very rare occasions when the congregation organises a "talent show" or a "gathering."

  So much potential, so much waste.

  if most jw's are window washers, what other occupations are considered the type of jobs that a witless would have.

  In my former congregation there were four window washers. Two of them were regular pioneers.

  One brother had some lucrative contracts and could afford to work part time. The others struggled.

  Income is very much dependent on the weather.

  I know of a sister who accompanied her husband in window washing. I don't think she took to it.

  Some brothers worked for a loan company, going door to door collecting payments. I felt uncomfortable with this because they were charging people high rates of interest for relatively small loans.

  If We Were to Take the Flood Account Literally..

  then i cant help but come to the conclusion that everyone who died (like 99.999% of humanity at the time) was doomed from the start.. if god directed noah to build a flotation device with very specific parameters, god must have known exactly how many people, animal species, plant etc, would be in it.. what if people actually listened to noah and thousands upon thousands turned up waiting to enter the ark?

  god must have known that only so many people will listen and obey instructions.. no to mention that noahs message didnt really reach that many people.

  at that time how many people could have heard it?

  it's good to look at things with a fresh approach...

  The angels that came to Earth could not rid themselves of all of their spiritual attributes that they were created with. They could not alter their internal makeup which is why their children were giants. This is in stark contrast to Jesus, who had a prehuman existence in heaven but was born completely human.
  
  Perhaps this is why God said at Genesis 6:3, "My Spirit will not remain with mankind forever, because they are corrupt. Their days will be 120 years."
  
  By coming down to Earth and mating with women the angels violated God's law of marriage, that a man would leave his father and his mother and he would stick to his wife and become one flesh. In a sense, the materialized angels who married and coupulated with women stole what rightfully belonged to man in the normal course of events.

  Violating the one flesh standard was unacceptable to God, this is why the human line became contaminated and polluted by Satan's way of thining. Think of it this way. Leviticus 19:19 says "You must not crossbreed two different kinds of your livestock, sow your fields with two kinds of seed, or put on a garment made of two kinds of material." Those angels that came to Earth crossbred two different kinds of flesh; that of the spirit realm and a human which produced the Nephilim. The Mosaic law provided penalties for cross breeding two different spieces. Sexual perversions resulted in the death penalty. The angels left their natural home and came to earth. They were created in God's image and had both male and female attributes but looked upon mankind with curiosity and cultivated a desire from within their mind and figurative heart.

  At the time of the flood, the angels that materialized had to revert back to their spiritual form in order to keep living. They gambled that by dematerializing, God would allow them back into the spirit realm, but once you fall from perfection there is no going back in God's eyes, so they were punished.
