while the jw community revels in the latest changes coming down from mother, never forget that the society are doing our job for us.. in recent years, the society's admonition was to stay off the internet and if you absolutely have to use it, only use the official website.. now the literature has q-codes on the back that direct you to jw.org and you can download their publications from the web, and with the advent of jw tv, visitors who go to the society's website are only a mouse click away from jwfacts and jwn.. not to mention the heavy impact that social media, especially facebook, is having on the society as a whole with jw apologists trying to defend their faith against former witnesses.. so don't be discouraged by the new and improved jw.org.
they are doing our job for us and getting members to go on the web.. .

Outlaw,
I just searched JW.org on eBay - I am amazed at the JW merchandise listed there. It's staggering.
This religion has morphed almost overnight into something I don't recognise.
Along with 15 years of dumbing down the literature, I don't know what they stand for anymore.
Yes, I can see how the "youth" can get excited about this, but the religion lacks depth and clarity. It is not for intelligent, thinking people.
Jehovah's Witnesses have got less religious and more commercialized with this new venture.

here's my prediction; the gov body giving regular talks will come across as crazy ass idiots.
this will strengthen the opposition and give something to refer too that is concrete evidence of crazy town in the jw headquarters.
there will be screen captures and clips that will be used all the time on youtube accounts to show the ttatt.
I agree it will be the best thing ever for exJWs.
The society is encouraging JWs to go online to their website, but they forget that the younger generation is smart and savvy and will go beyond the JW web borders to other exJW sites.
They are doing our job for us!!!
Truthseeker
Outlaw,
I respectfully disagree. This is the worst thing the Society could have done (for their long time adherents) but the best thing for the exJWs.
Reason being, just going on the internet and Googling "Jehovahs Witnesses" will bring up a plethora of anti-JW sites.
It's not like going to a library and having to really look for anything anti-JW. With the web, it's instantaneous.
They are helping the flock get online, but how many will start getting bored during meetings and browse exJW sites on their tablet?
We have a few that accidentally came to this site and are now members.
Also, the JW religion lacks the human element of social life - there is no active program for helping seniors, teens, single parents etc, so JWs will still be starved of human contact unless they have made their own arrangements.

from an email i received of a conversation had with people from patterson:.
it seems that the wts legal dept.
has been working with the fb [facebook] legal dept for about a year and also with youtube whoever they are, to enforce transparency.
This could be true.
A few years ago, my wife was a member of a non-JW parenting forum. There was a JW sister on there. My wife was friends with this sister but they never met in person.
Later, my wife began to have doubts about the truth and she decided to post photos of our kids birthday parties. This upset the sister who told her she needed to tell the elders about her doubts. There was some emails going back and forth between them.
Well, unbeknown to us, this sister took it upon herself to find my wife on the website yellowpages, so she could find out what congregation we were in. Having done that, she contacted our elders and provided them with the bday photos and emails from my wife.
The elders called round unannounced and asked that I be present and then asked my wife questions. This sister gave them enough rope to hang us with. We could not deny the evidence.
It was decision time but they gave us time to see what we wanted to do.
So yes, this Facebook/Youtube info could be true because there are individuals who will protect the Society at all costs.
Don't underestimate those who defend them.

standing on corners holding up the awake and watchtower magazines?
all hours, all weathers?
street work reminds me of randy crawford's "street life" - i've modified the lyrics.... .
redvip,
We would also walk up and down Main Street. We had English and spanish tracts and mags as our town had a lot of Latinos living there.
I hated every minute of it, preferred laundromats.

Did any of you ever do street work? Standing on corners holding up the Awake and Watchtower magazines? All hours, all weathers? Street Work reminds me of Randy Crawford's "Street Life" - I've modified the lyrics...
Street Work
Because that's one place we can go
Street Work
Because there's no one that I know
Street Work
You can see it in my face
Street Work
I've a hundred tracts to place
You people never see
The reason that I'm here
I have to count my time
This work is such a sham
This life of mine that's played
Is just a masquerade
The way I dress and talk
This isn't who I am
Street Work
I can't run away from time
Street Work
It'll be over when it's nine
Street Work
I'm starting to get cold
Street Work
This message is getting old
I'm not trying to make a sale
Paradise is no fairy tale
Just take these magazines
But they politely decline
They smile and look at me
I watch them as they go
But time is getting on
There's a group to meet at nine
Street Work
Street Work
Street Work
Oh street work
I do Street Work
Because that's one place we can go

the transformation from watchtower to jw.org is nothing short of remarkable.. animated cartoons (caleb and sophia), the new jw.org slogan, international convention websites (featuring previously unthinkable entertainment in the kingdom hall) - how long do you think this has been in the works for?.
i feel very uneasy about what is happening - it's so sudden, seems like it all happened within the space of a year.. i sense some intelligence about all this, as if it has been some carefully orchestated performance - to dazzle and distract.. the kingdom ministry of 1999 was totally against the internet and now they seem to embrace it along with tablets and smartphones.. why the sudden change?
do you think it is anything to do with social media?.

Is it to attract new recuirts? Keep existing ones? If so, then they are not really interested in "truth" but more about retaining their existing membership above all else.
Is it a case of "if you can't beat them, then join them"?
and he said to them, "i tell you the truth, some who are standing here will not taste death before they see the kingdom of god come with power.
