LOL.. Hi Jen 1, welcome.
Do you have classmates or workmates you could have lunch with?
How about volunteering or joining a health club?
Tell us a little about yourself.
Nice to "meet" you. When everyone wakes up i'm sure you will get more responses.

Millions die in Natural disasters - God is doing nothing. Do I adopt Anthropomorphism to him?
by KateWild ini do not think god is a'morphic.
god is not human, so hence he does not possess human characteristics, to know god better and to understand him better i study science.
there has been a new discovery of strange signals picked up from black holes and distant supernovae suggest there's more to space-time than einstein believed.

Hi Kate.
I don't think we've "met" yet.
I have enjoyed your posts and I listened to your JC on youtube.
I saw your posts on Cofty's thread. I like the way you don't back down.
Re: your OP- If you are going by the bible then you know it teachesbthat god created humans in his image. That would mean he would give us his qualities.
Also if you were looking at creation it could be seen as an act of a loving god.
Having said that, I must tell you I don't know what to think any more.
I do think that your idea of an emotionless god makes more sense. My husband believes there is a creator but we humans are so insignificant it doesnt make sense that god would even take time to deal with us.
Do you feel that way also?
I also believe in a creator.

Would "God is a free agent and can choose not to" be # 17?
also what about the " we are being tested" (Job) argument, would that be # 18?
I am enjoying this thread. It has really made me think.
Adam needs to be more patient and less condescending. We are all on different levels here. I didn't even know what a fallacy was until I came to this forum. Sometimes we don't know what we don't know. I always appreciate the links and the reading suggestions.

Our teenagers first Christmas tree
by truthseekeriam inwe had fun putting together our first artificial tree last week, it came out so pretty!
the lights and cheap ornaments just add to it.. we have been careful to close our blinds at night to avoid our jw neighbors from calling in the elders, that worked for a few days until we decided to go out for an early dinner and yes, i forgot to close the blinds!
as we drove up to the garage door i could see the tree in the front room and started to freak out a little.

I put 2 small table top trees up as an experiment. No lighting strikes yet.
I usually decorate a small tree at work and put decorations up. (No one at work knows about my jw affliction.)
This year I realised there was no reason why I couldnt actually have my own tree in my own house.
My children are between 17 and 25 yrs. old and not baptised or believers. We never celebrated christmas. They are not sure how to react.

Snare&racket:
That was the exact coversation my daughter had with me. I was the jw and she was answering those objections.
My advice: go slow. It is still taking me awhile to erase the automatic responses. I have asked my daughter the same questions in different ways trying to understand how wrong I was and how little I really knew.
She would listen to the reasonings I would spout out and show me proof that it was not possible.

Cofty...I have been wanting to let you know how much I enjoy your posts. If I see your name on any posts I make sure to check it. You usually have something to make me think. Some times I read someone's post and think "I can't wait til Cofty sees that one! "
