The yuk factor and others
by jgnat inwill you share with me an interesting discussion on what morals we all may have in common?
my recent reading has resulted in a fundamental shift in my worldview.
it feels like my house of cards have reshuffled themselves yet again, and everything i see, hear and smell is put in a new context.

So the yuk factor would include bacon for Jews and beef for Hindus, blood for JWs, meat for vegetarians.
I am curious: any ex jws eat blood after leaving? I don't think I could.

But Humble: we can see the influence or effect of gravity even if we don' t know the cause. It is still a fact it exists.
God or a creator or supreme entity or whatever way you want to classify it does not seem to.
The pull towards a spiritual or moral need seems relative and personal which is why it is hard to quantify.
Isn't that more in the realm of philosophy?
Is life and the most human or cultural need to fill a spiritual void proof of a creator or superior being?
Btw Humble and Sunny: I can relate to your posts and your journey. I find I am stumbling along a similar one.
Miss.Fit who still has an open mind.

Incest is still taboo in most circles.
I am examining my reactions toward same sex public displays of affection.
Do you find that most of those words: dirty, fithy, disgusting ectn usually are applied to sexual or relationship attitudes?

Sunny23: I agree that this has been an enlightening discussion.
I can't begin to express the range of emotions I have experienced just being able to participate in this kind of discussion.
So this is what freedom feels like.
I was so used to being told what to think.
Cofty challenged me to stop and really think about my automatic responses.
I kinda cheated.... I quietly waited to read responses similar to mine so I could see the way Cofty responded.
I still reserve the right to make up my own mind.
It has been an interesting journey.

Cofty are you going to do a final summary? It looks like no one could present a satisfying answer.

I know how you feel. Do you have any co workers that you can invite? I think the advice to make non jw friends is wise.
Too bad faders don't have a secret hand shake or password.
