Ahhh yes...DISTRICT CONVENTION TIME IS HERE.....
by jimbob inyes, summer is almost here, and this will be my very first summer that i will not be attending a district convention.
since the wife and i left the borg last august, i have looked forward to a summer, free from conventions.
at last that time has arrived.

At Spanish conventions I dont really remember ever seeing protesters, at least not on a regular basis. I guess the Spanish speaking apostates are as zealous as the English speaking. course maybe that has changed in the last 7 years.

Why do elders step down when their children are disfellowshipped?
by truthseeker inhi everyone, a question that has been on my mind for a while.. if jehovah appoints the elders, why is it that when one of their kids is disfellowshipped some of them step down as an elder?.
does jehovah dis-appoint them?
is this a scriptual thing?

Wednesday:
Who cares if she lied to the elders! What qualifies them to be judge and jury, I doubt any of them went to law school and they all probably went in the bathroom and jacked off afterwards.
about the topic, my father didnt step down and wasnt deleted but this was one of the things that most concerned me about fading away, cause i would have felt guilty about that.

thrown for a loop by Elder
by integ in'just when i'm about to get out, they keep pulling me back in"- godfather 3.. this quote does'nt truly apply to me, but just when i am convinced there are absolutely no redeemable qualities about the borg this really nice elder comes up to me and very calmly tells me how much i am loved and missed at the meetings, to not feel any pressure, and that jehovah will always be there for me, and that he (the elder) would too.
he had a very calm, serene, quality about him.
came off as truly "spiritual".

I know many great people who are JW's, including many members of my family, but it doesnt change the fallacy that is their religion. (and every other for that matter IMO)

Did you always turn in *all* your donation money?
by asleif_dufansdottir ini went out in service for the first time at about the same time the "donation arrangement" was put into effect.
i heard one or two brothers (when they were in 'safe' company) thinking out loud that if the money was really for the "world wide work"...that maybe it would be ok to use some of it, sometimes, to put gas in the car to go out in service (our congregation had some really poor people and our rurals covered 4 or 5 counties and hundreds of square miles).. i was wondering if anyone actually did that?
i wonder if pioneers who were used to getting a price break kept keeping a percentage??

If This Place Was A Congregation, Who Would Be The Elders, MS and CO's?
by minimus ini know some of you hate the idea of jwd being like a congregation but just for fun, let's imagine who would "serve" as the elders (presiding overseer, secretary, service overseer) etc.
and what "privileges" you would be given.

i'd be the guy that only shows up about once a month but tries to sound smart when he answers at the meeting

More international conventions?
by Azalo injust from the bits and pieces i get from my mother it seems like the jws are having international conventions left and right now.
my sister got "chosen" to go to chile.
are they trying to con people into staying by sending them to exotic places?

If Your JW Relative Needed Blood, Would You Force It On Them?
by minimus indue to the fact that most of us do not feel that it is scripturally wrong to take blood, if your relative was told that they needed a transfusion and you could see that they get it, even if it's against their wishes, would you force blood into them??
?

replys are way too long to read as for me no i wouldnt because it is like a do not resuscitate order, you should respect a persons wishes and i wouldnt force one on my niece either because i would fear that her parents might not treat her the same after that and again wrong as they may be they are the parents and its their right to refuse.
