  i'm not quite sure how to start this one, i'm new here and feel a bit of an outsider.

  my sisters and mother are jehovah's witnesses and have been as long as i can remember.

  i however, chose to follow a different path.

  I dont know the answer to your main question, but I would be inclined to believe that if there is a God he/she would be against any institution that kills his/her creations.

  My personal view is that you wont be happy as a JW. JW's are very similar to the military in that they control every aspect of your life. As a JW you have more perceived freedom because no can send you to Leavenworth to "make little rocks out of big rocks" but they exert just as much control by using psychological tools of coercion as others have pointed out. Challenging the system is not accepted in either one. Basically they both suck, I have been in the Air force for 3 years and I was a JW until

  they dont have written review anymore?! I always sucked at those. man did i hate the 30 paragraph WT studies.

  there is no way for me to know if the quality of JW has gone down, the only ones i still have contact with, my family, seem just as gung ho as they ever have.

  i was riding home tonite (on my mountain bike), and my route takes me by the kingdumb hall... where, at 9:30 on friday night, there were all kinds of witnesses out in the parking lot, yada yada yada.

  you know what that means - the c.o.

  was in town.... i felt kinda bad at first, b/c everyone looked so happy, but immediately snapped out of it and rememberd how badly they treat people... their happiness always seems more evident when the c.o.

  Is There Something You Want To Get Off of Your Chest or Vent About???

  one of the great things that this board offers is the ability to express yourself.

  sometimes, things we couldn't tell a person to their face, we can express here.

  or we might be able to give of ourselves, our experiences, our joys and frustrations......you name it!.......regarding my vent, it is that i can't understand why some post on these boards and yet are very pro witness.

  and about the sob stories, i get annoyed when some people constantly post them like they are fishing for ((())), a certain poster comes to mind but I will keep it to myself.

  and you know what else, I hate vanity plates! No one cares what your stupid job is or what you call yourself. I mean doesnt the "coolness" of it wear off after about, oh I dont know, an hour. I would be ashamed to get vanity plates because i know there would jerks like me driving around making fun of me. If I ever saw someone with "Assman" plates though, now that would be funny.

  and for the most part i hate these question threads, but this one is fun. and i shouldnt throw stones cause i have started one or two. (and been promptly chastised because the same or similar question thread had already been done)

  and I hate the lakers and the yankees.

  i haven't seen you posting here lately, and i just wondered if everything is ok?.

  i've always considered you my best friend.

  but lately i've been thinking about a lot of things, and it occurred to me: you've never said one word to me in my entire life, even though i've sent you thousands of messages; not exactly what friends do to each other.

  OK I have a serious one this time. I cant stand the hugs symbols ((((())))). I mean does it really make anyone feel better to get a virtual hug from someone who could care less about you. OK OK I know I am callous and cold but that is why I never respond to sob stories. Actually I dont mind the sob stories, I read them and appreciate them but I just dont feel compelled to respond with the hug and the fake words of comfort.

  Why are you even on here then? If have "moved on" then why are u on an ex-JW board. Personally I think its fun to reminisce about my life as a "dub", I'm sure many find it therapeutic. Its like remembering the stupid outfits you used to wear in the 80's cause it was in style and laughing at yourself about it.

  What I Don't Miss at a District Convention

  name the things you don't miss about going to a dc!

  ---getting there so early and then find that the "servants" have saved all the good seats

  ---not having time to make a decent lunch and getting admonished about not buying from nearby vendors.

  Having someone pass a note to my father (elder) saying how me and my friends were talking and laughing during the session which meant that not only did I get my ass chewed and probably grounded but I had to sit with my parents the rest of the convention.
