I've modified my view a bit. I think it's wrong, yes, but should not be illegal. The woman is the sovreign ruler of her body, and all that is in her body. If she decides to destroy that which is her, or that which is within her body, so be it. There are consequences for every action, regardless.

Curious about Abortion Stand Now
by Oroborus21 inhowdy,.
ok this is not to say that only jws are anti-abortion or that persons are not capable of fluctuating on this issue for reasons other than orthodox jw reasons or completely unrelated to them, *phew*.
but what i was wondering and my question for the exjws here is this: .

"Hey there all your thirsty ones" always made me want a beer.

I cannot say necessarilly that it was positive itself, but it helped me be who I am today, and I am pretty cool about who I am. Things happen for a reason. The Law of Karma is unavoidable, putting us through these experiences, not for any other reason but to learn from them. Otherwise whole years are wasted.

A look into the secret world of a U.S. navy ship in The Gulf...
by happysunshine inthis was just taken by a guy i grew up with.
he said the war is over, and they're coming home.
so they had a little 'pickle barrell' celebration as only navy boys can.

(Concertina playing)
Oh, it's great to sail on a ship with men,
And sail across the sea, oh
We don't know where we'll land or when
But it's great to be with men...(chorus)
Men, men, men
It's a ship all filled with men
So throw your condoms overboard
There's no one here but men...ok It was a joke. don't need no navy guys coming to kill me.

Alternatives to JWism
by gitasatsangha ini know most witnesses leave indivudually, and some, like me, want nothing to do with their theology afterwords, but i am curious, sometimes, why there hasn't been more of a schim or general exedus over much of the more recent stupidity at wtbs.
i was thinking that it was because there was no alternative to the iron grip of the gb, for those who believe in the many of the jw things but have no recourse except the authoritative structure, but the bible student groups that did not kowtow to rutherford have been around since the twenties.
i don't know much about them, but i met a few bible students and they were nice.

Thanks all for your answers. I wasn't interested in them myself (a long time ago in the spiritual search I looked up that dark alley), but more in the political/schismatic effect of watchtower "refugees"

When The Circuit Overseer Visited, Why Did You Do More Than Usual?
by minimus inwas it pressure, the desire to conform, was it because you thought that you could work in service with him???
were you trying to get appointed?
did you really think it was a "special week of activity"?

The coffee break was the only decent part about field servitude.
when the CO came most everyone acted different. My dad would even fuss about making sure I combed my hair right. I never gave much thought about the visits, except to make certain I dodged any meals or field service with them. I remember going to the funeral of a CO, once (Homolka was his name). That was very weird because all these CO's from all over the place, and I think a DO showed up, like it was a State Funeral.

Absent minded at the meetings
by JH inwhat are the weirdest things you done during a meeting or at an assembly?.
i had a 4 day district assembly at olympic stadium in montreal a few years ago, and i found the meeting so dull that i left and took the subway which passes below the stadium and i went down town montreal all day.
i came back by the subway for the end of the assembly, just in time to say amen.

the wierdest thing i ever did at a meeting was w hen i was about 10 years old. I had to give a #2 talk in the main hall. My sister had been df'd the week before, and another sister and brother were already df'd. I just lost it on stage and started balling like a baby. finally i stepped down. I wanted to go home but my parents wouldnt let me. the conductor was nice enough about it, I guess. I just remember being humiliated having to sit through the rest of that meeting. thanks mom. as usual you REALLY came through for us.
but later i developed good odd habbits for at least conventions. here was my standard list of things to do:
during assemble/convention parts:
check watch, look up skirts with binoculars, scribble, write a short story, read a "worldly" magazine, talk to whoever was beside me, look up more skirts with binoculars, walk around the hallway, eat a snack, struggle to get binoculars back from person sitting beside me. enjoy a sexual fantasy, use watchtower to hide the tent i just pitched, scribble some notes, eat another snack, look for people i knew, go to men's room, come back, check watch
during the drama:
actually i paid attention to these for some reason. they were funny. why do drama actos have to throw their hands up in the air all the time? why so much gold lame back in the ancient times? the last one i saw had some israelite swordsmen or something. i just remember that whoever did the costuming outfited the israeli swordsmen with modern japanese katanas. wierd.
modern day drama:
well snoozing in a modern-day drama is a given. the actors dont throw their arms up in the air as much
