I saved a life today
by RubyTuesday ini was on my way to work today when i see something in the road...looks like a dead bird.people are just passing by it, one car almost hit it...again.there are two older ladies on the side of the road that look upset..one is crying.so i stop and i see that it is a duck.the ladies tell me they saw it get hit by a car.i walk over to the duck and scooped it up thinking i will just get it out of the road.there is a nearby pond so i go over to it, lay the duck near the edge and it starts to move...more and more.
it stands up and shakes out its feathers and staggers closer to the water and jumps in and swims away.the ladies come up to me and start hugging me and telling me i saved the duck.what a great feeling!!
any simular experiences?.

Does it ever get easier?
by Surfacing inmy heart is palpitating even as i write this.
it was only recently that i was introduced to this site.
i had long had doubts but could never bring myself to peer over the wall built in my head about the evils of apostates.

Surfacing,
It does get better. The first good feeling for me, at least, was to know I was not alone. That there were others, thousands even, who did feel the same way. We're all interconnected that way. When you are able to sense, even if at first only for brief moments, that feeling of real freedom and realness which the Watchtower can never offer, that freedom is a better feeling then a lifetime of trying to make your life fit into the watchtower machine. Welcome home.

Are You a "Mess" Since Leaving The Organization or Are You OK?
by minimus inmost people have left the organization because of emotional issues.
the feeling that there is no real love or fellow feeling seems to get at people.
it gnaws at them.

I'm not a mess, but one thing gnaws at me. I don't like laying blame on other's for my problem, but I think this one originated with the JW's, and I have to find a way out of it. I can't seem to make any lasting meaningful friendships with anyone.

That's got to be some sort of parody religion, like Church of the Subgenius. Then again, there are Subgenious members who are starting to actually take the old joke a little too seriously.

God's Ride
by dustyb ini always remember in the bible that god's preferred choice of transportation was a chariot.
why would god have a chariot though, instead of a nice new porsche 911 or a ferarri or something like that?
he'd sure be noticed more =d

The Ezekial Chariot supposedly could go in any direction instanteneously, possibly in all dimensions.
Clearly Jehovah is a Gallifreyan Timelord who owns a Mark I TARDIS

Christianity the biggest scam ever!!!
by William Penwell inreading a number of posts here it seems like a fair amount of posters are still into and pushing the christian philosophy.
i would like to start a discussion here that objectively examines the evidence and not base a belief on "blind faith".
after leaving the jdubs, i have read a number of books over the past few years.

The Passion of the Christ (Movie)
by Golf inafter hearing the pro's and con's about the movie, i went to see it this afternoon.
i know we all have differing views, but i'm interested in knowing what impression it left you.
for me, i went in with a critical eye and i was emotionally detached from the movie.

Crucifixion was a BAD way to go, no doubt about it, but humanity has been pretty good at coming up with sadistic ways to kill people, especially Christians.
Some examples of worse (IMO) ways to go.
The Execution of the Pappenheimer Family: (I'm not going to even describe it. I got physically ill. But here it is)
http://www.shanmonster.com/witch/witches/papheim.html
China, not to be outdone in the brutal killing department came up with this one:
http://www.encyclopedia4u.com/t/the-death-of-a-thousand-cuts.html
Impaling through the Anus and out the jaw sounds pretty bad. It's been done many times.Vlad Tepes was fond of doing it to people.
Burning At the Steak can't be all the fun for the victim.
I guess it's a bit silly saying that one method of death makes one person suffer more then all other people in history. So silly, some Fundie somewhere will say it. Personally I'd rather not know WHO suffered the worse. What Ive read is bad enough.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, as Sagan used to say.
Saying there was a dude in Pax-Augustus Galiliee named Jesus aint something that needs to be proved. There was probably tons of them.
Saying a certain one raised people from the dead, converted H20 into ethyl alcohol and grape juice, cast demons from demoniacs (a disease which is strangely eradicated nowadays), cured blindness with spit, cured heavy menstration with his skirt, violated the laws of thermodynamics by turning one fish into a bunch of fish (ditto with bread), forced pigs into suicide, demonstrated water striding, visited long dead prophets, demonstrated weather control, was himself raised from the dead, flew up into the sky, AND had all this recorded down perfectly posthumously be three people who knew him, and one that didn't.. that requires extraordinary evidence.
Or perhaps it doesn't, if believing in Jesus helps you in your life, or more importantly if the things he taught help you. It's all about what makes you happy, in the end. Who Jesus is, inasmuch as what is important to most people, tends to change with the ages.

nah..
Jesus would turn the Balrag into a loaf of bread and give it to his followers. Gandalf would get impaled on the stake but return as Gandalf the Whiter then White.
