Would you get baptized again?

i was baptized as a catholic, when i was very young, and then baptized in my late twenties as a jw.

which leads to my question.

if you joined another religion, would you get baptized again?

My JW baptism was meaningless. My Golden-Dawn initiation was more meaningful (and more interesting), and if I ever take the Buddhist 5 vows of the layperson, that will mean something for certain, as it's a commitment to myself to live by certain precepts, , but devoting myself to a corporation and their confusing deity.. that don't mean anything.

Most Popular JW Jobs???

what are some of the more popular jobs jws seem to flock to in your opinion?

personally, the latest trend in my area is school bus driver as well as school bus monitor.

i can think of six jws who drive school buses and two who are monitors.

I agree Flower. I get tired of people putting down folks because they earn an honest wage. The cong's I went to all had a pretty diverse group of publishers, and they all had a wide range of jobs, from PHD's, to window washers, and everything in between. But the ones with the worst jobs, in terms of pay, were almost always second and third generation Jdubs.

At the same time, I realize why people emphasize the window-washer JW's. It's done, because there is a need to emphasize that JW's typically do restrict the educational avenues their children might otherwise have. I know it affected me, and I'm back in college now into my thirties.

Armageddon Dreaming...

i had this horrible nightmare a couple of nights ago which i haven't told anyone, fearing that they'll all conclude that it's my conscience warning me.

here's how i remember it:.

remember the biblical prophecy that mentions when christ comes back again "all eyes will see him"?

I can honestly say that I have never had an "armageddon" dream once I left the JWs. The closest I think I came to that was I dreamed once I found myself out in service for some odd reason, and wondred what the hell I was doing, there dressed in jeans, a tshirt, and my old bookbag, and then even funnier, wondering what my presentation would be. I had plenty of Armageddon dreams when I WAS a JW though, and they freaked me out. That and those "Demon" dreams where I thought I dreamed I was attacked by a demon and couldnt speak out to the Big Feller for help, suffocating. That's just part of a large cultural hypnosis we shared.

It's probably just your mind trying to work things out in its own odd way. Eventually they will subside.

here's a confessional for those who would like to admit to anything:

1) i absolutely love buffy the vampire slayer - sure i'm almost 35, married with a 2 year old, with a degree in history.

now with season 6 coming out on dvd i have 200+ hours!

Just plain rude!

we went to a chinese restaraunt this weekend.

the whole experience started off bad.

the minute we walked in, the waitreses looked me up and down and started talking chinese loudly to each other.

There seems to have been something of an outbreak of Chinese restaurants where I live, lately. I'm talking maybe 10 or so in the last three years in a two mile radius. They are not all equal, and that goes for food and for service. My guess, and it's only a guess, is that most of the people opening these business have little knowledge of the restaurant business before opening their own (or of management, or of food for that matter in one case). I figure the bad one's will cease to be patronized, in a buyer's market, and the good ones will hopefully make it, same as anything else. On the other hand, some of them are really nice places to eat. (A waiter I know at one, always make's an origami swan for my girlfriend, when we come in. I make him some paper boat or propeller thingy). Maybe if there was some McDonald's of Chinese Food those problems would equalize out, but then the food would be bland and it wouldn't be fun anymore.

Just learn some Mandarin dirty words.
