  Old Friends from the hall invited us over to their house.....

  ok, so we get a call from some friends who looked up to us as "who to be like".

  we have been on the fade for, well, a long time now, which is quite a contrast because we were the never miss type.

  the last conversation i had with the husband he kind of opened up about how he was having trouble going anymore.

  Dish Network v. Direct TV

  due to cable rates going up, again, we have decided on getting a dish.

  my mother in law has direct tv and a friend has dish network.

  they appear very similar to me.

  Sassy a coworker of mine (we're both network engineers) lives out out in the Middle of Nowhere, Louisianna, and has to use DirecTV for his broadband on a two way connection. He get's pretty good speed off of it (I think he reported downloads of 300kbs or so, but don't quote me. I don't know what the uploads were, but it really doesn't matter). I had DirecTV as my DSL provider of all things for awhile, but they sucked. Terrible downtimes, terrible tech support. I think they are out of the DSL business now.

  Considering Muhammed was a pedophile who married a six year old girl and had sex with her when she was nine (Volume 7, Book 62, Number 64: Sahih Bukhari), it's no wonder he came up with such golden gem's of instruction on women as these:

  "Bani An-Nadir and Bani Quraiza fought, so the Prophet (Muhammad) exiled Bani An-Nadir and allowed Bani Quraiza to remain at their places. He then killed their men and distributed their women, children and property among the Muslims, but some of them came to the Prophet and he granted them safety, and they embraced Islam. He exiled all the Jews from Medina. They were the Jews of Bani Qainuqa', the tribe of 'Abdullah bin Salam and the Jews of Bani Haritha and all the other Jews of Medina."
  (Hadith, Sahih Bukhari 5:59:362)
  
  "Omar reported from the Holy Prophet who said, 'No man shall be questioned for beating his wife.'"
  (Al Hadis, Vol. 1, p. 215)

  "Prophet (Muhammad) said: 'Do not stone the adulteress who is pregnant until she has had her child.' Khalid came forward with a stone which he threw at her head, and there spurted blood on the face of Khalid and he cursed her. The gentle Prophet prayed over her and she was buried."'

The Prophet sent (some people) in their pursuit and so they were (caught and) brought, and the Prophet ordered that their hands and legs should be cut off and that their eyes should be branded with heated pieces of iron, and that their cut hands and legs should not be cauterized, till they die.'"

  Can a Skeptic believe in God?

  recently i got the winter edition magazine of the ontario skeptic news and found a great six page article on "can a skeptic believe in god?

  and what a great read it was, some of the points were well versed.

  it went into some detail of believers and non believers arguing about god, what i found interesting was how at the end of the argument both sides would have felt they had won the argument.

  off topic: Lovetruth, I find every time I read your posts I hear them in Patrick Stewart's voice. This gives all your posts an air of erudition and command. That or they make sense to me.

  back in topic:

  I think the concept of God is IMHO, too subjective for skepticism to have any real effect with. We will believe or not. Linear reason will not really have much to do with either view.

  A former right-wing junta leader from Belize forced into exile who then becomes a JW who then enters into the missionary work but is also a CIA operative somewhere in Suriname? He had to use special connections to make certain his life-bio did NOT appear in the June 2002 Watchtower. He works part time as a tour guide.
