  I need the full page illustration of possible impalement

  in the large jw reference bible (page 1578) is a drawing of a man dying on an upright pole.

  in penton's book, apocalypse delayed, there is a reference on page 342 to that illustration, mentioning it is only one of 16 drawings, 13 of which show a cross beam.

  One thing I do not understand is the JW use of the world "impale". Typically that word is resurved for something besides being nailed to a tree.

  As an execution form, impalement typically meant being pierced bodilly, through either the torso, or more gruesomely, though the anus (or vagina in rare cases) with a sharpened stake that exited the upper body, most likely through a shoulder. With either method, victims could be supported upon the sharpened stake as it was raised to vertical, taking a long time to die. Vlad Tepes was rather fond of this method. I don't see any other religions mentioning Jesus' impalement. One wonders about the Watchtower's fascination with the word, when they don't really even tell their believers what it implies.

  Eman I've bought some tobacco pipes, a Italian folding bicycle that once saved me from a skunk, and some antique radio equipment from ebay. A problem is that sometimes people on ebay tend to overestimate the value of what they are bidding on. Like any auction, you just have to let those slide by. I've only been burned once, and that was for a purchase of less then $10.00 so I am not to worried about it.

  Falsely claiming to be annointed

  what does the wts say happens to someone who claims to be annointed and partakes at the memorial if that person really isn't annointed?

  does someone who is honestly mistaken about being annointed meet the same fate as one cynically claiming to be annointed?

  this has probably been discussed before, but i can't seem to find it.. thanks all!.

  i just remembered a marriage i did for the daughter of a jw and the son of the president of danriver mills, a textile company who wasn't a jw.

  that was in the early sixties, i can't remember the details, but it wasn't in a church.

  i haven't seen them since.. i have performed several marriage ceremonies years ago.
