I would talk to elders if they came by, but I don't think we have that much in common to talk about. I will typically talk to anyone who comes to my door.

Do You Still Feel Obliged To Answer To The Elders?
by minimus in.
for some, there is real fear that they must speak to the elders if they decide to stop by your house .some don't know what they will do if the elders begin questioning them.
what will you do if they want to talk to you?

Why do people constantly get a knot in their panties about stuff that isn't even any of their business.
I confess that I don't like spinach. Actually I hate it. I can't stand to see it or smell it. I prefer it be in a sealed container if I am in the same room with it. Honestly, spinach is nasty.
But I don't hate spinach eaters. And if eating spinach is good for them, and harms none, that that shall be the end of the matter, to misquote Crowley.
There is a very good book called "AIN'T NOBODY'S BUSINESS IF YOU DO: The Absurdity of Consensual Crimes in a Free Country." It is by Peter McWilliams and is a very good read.

Have You Ever Written A Letter To the Society?
by minimus inwhen i was a kid, i remember my family regularly visiting other friends, including a brother that was the bible study servant.
every week, he would send a different letter to the society on a variety of subjects.
when our families would meet, he would ask us the question and we would do research or give our opinion on what we thought the society's answer was going to be.

Did you leave the Borg 'in search of truth' or 'freedom from rules'?
by BLISSISIGNORANCE inthis question is not to offend anyone, it's just that i have noticed people have many different reasons for leaving the borg and i thought it would be interesting to find out why some of you left.. for example:some leave because they want to be free to smoke, drink, gamble, fornicate, grow beards, celebrate xmas, take blood and drugs, etc.some leave because they never believed and now are old enough to do as they want.some leave because they have seen that they can be happy living life free from any religious organization, yet still feel safe in god's love.some have been hurt by the borg and have taken their wounds away to lick them, waiting to see justice.some have trusted the borg with their lives, time and money...........only to discover recently that there has been lies, cover-ups and hypocracy in the borg.
now they have left but need to belong to another organization to feel happy.. i left the borg because i found out about the cover-ups and lies.
my family was abused by it, my child was sexually abused and i was df'ed.

I left because the JW's were wrong. They were consistantly wrong. I wanted to understand the supposed questions that religions claim to answer, but this particular one wasn't answering any questions at all. It was impractical. I left it.

Article in the Awake about us "Apostate Fighters"
by LuckyLucy intoday i was at work and a jw slipped a watchtower and awake in the mail slot.in the awake there is an article titled "is there an unforgivable sin?
" here is a paragraph that caught my eye.. some people who were once faithful christians have purposely drawn away from god, perhaps because of bitterness, pride, or greed, and are now "apostate fighters" against god's spirit.they willfully oppose what the spirit is clearly accomplishing.
have these induividuals committed the unforgiveable sin?

Does This Board Have A "Teaching"?
by rocketman inhaving frequented this board for about two years, i've noticed over time that, in a sense, there has come to be almost a 'religion', set of beliefs, or 'teaching' that has kind of evolved here.
there seem to be certain things that the majority, in some cases even a consensus, of members here agree on.
some examples that come to mind:.

maybe there is some mathematical formula that shows X-JW particles when repulsed from negative charges of the WTS atom, began to drift into free space. Most eventually are captured by positively charged ions of Unitarian-Universalist molecules.

A nation run by witnesses (based on their track record with governing large groups of people)
Everyone would eat plastic wrapped danishes in the morning. Everyone would go door to door, except that everyone is already a witness. Never fear, it was ineffective anyway.
Shasta would replace CocaCola as the number one selling beverage.
Lunch would be served at three inconvenient locations in the nation twice a day. Bland sandwiches with lines miles long. Citizens are discouraged from eating at privately owned restaurants.
Women would be better off in most Muslim countries.
Awake! Stands on the corner.
Star Trek Enterprise gets a new 10 year contract. (what is it with Trekkie dubs)
WBBR competes with Radio Havana for broadcasting space.
Police drive Buick LeSabres.
