do you find yourself using british expressions in your daily life because of being on this db so much?

two that i've picked up - i occasionally will call a friend "mate" (they look at me kind of funny) .

Do you understand...continued

i posted a topic the other day titled "do you understand..." and it referred my version of a high control group.

after that post my mind was still working so i sat down to write and this is what came out:.

this is from the book how to make anyone fall in love with you.. in a study, both men and women were shown pictures of members of the opposite sex.

some of the people in photos wore chic upscale clothes, and others wore less expensive ones that ranged from cheap to downright cheesy.

I heard the same survey a good while ago... it mentioned that the shoes a guy wears are also important; apparently if he looks after/ cleans his shoes... he will look after his women.... ummm.... not sure how that figures!

I am a sucker for a pretty face... although it has recently dawned on me that this is really not the way to live... it has left me feeling jealous, insecure, sub-standard etc. For now I am very happy to be single.... ahhhh relief.

It would be interesting to see what everyone looks like in this Group/ Thread.... if only so that I can feast my eyes on the women LOL !!!

I just can't do it!!!

i have been involved with a girl who is of the jw faith; although things have pretty much ended between us... due to her being disfellowshipped for the way we acted together (although she has recently been accepted back).. she did make me think about things... and consider her religion.

however, i think i have come to my senses.... a few things about the religion seem wrong to me... the whole watchtower thing (false prophet), being baptised into the organisation, the subject of blood and the little evidence they seem to have to back this up, the 'new light' etc.. i would really like more information to present to this girl in order to:.

1) show her that it really is not right for me; with good/ unquestionable reasons why;.

Why do JWs think that they are the 'chosen' ones and that only they are in Gods favour... where is the proof as seen by a JW?

What is the history of Charles Russell... what makes him so special?

I just need enough information to put up a good defence... you know how well JWs know "their" Bible and religion!

For those of you raise in the "truth" a Question

i myself was raised in the "truth" til i was df'd at the age of 21. i have often wondered that if i were allowed to grow up just as every other child did in the u.s. would i have been interested in looking at the organization and taking interest?

do any of you think and wonder the same thing?

Hi,

Virtually everyone here appears to have been raised a JW. I on the other hand have only recently started to consider it; although the more I visit this forum, the more I have my doubts.

I have considered it because the JWs seem to follow more of the Bible than any other religion, they seem to have good morals (generally). Also I want a hope for the future.... my best friend of 13 years died last month in a car accident... what does he have now???

By the way, I am in my 20s.

God in the video games shop...

i have been considering religion and god recently... and to some extent the jws religion.. i was in a video games shop the other day, looking for a few good games for my xbox console.... i found myself thinking "would god look favourably upon me if i brought this game".... the game in question was 'mortal kombat' (one of the more violent games).

this is one of the main reasons i did not purchase it.. i think i have succumb to jw logic.... is this the right way to be thinking?.
