i would have to say that ray franz was the biggest influence for me.. when i first got on this board, a poster by the name of james, a former bethelite and organization heavy, helped me understand a lot of the inner workings in the upper echelons of the society.. .

and of course, farkel's common sense approach was (usually) helpful..

what is amazing is how many have turned their back on the king or was it they had no faith in the first place and the spiritual food they received did not help them stand upon a rock.

It is a complicated question you are asking and I am assuming you are just asking a question and not accusing, shaming or otherwise conemning, proselytizing or propagandising. But for me getting burned so bad by people who bear his name as christians kind of creates a sort of guilt by association. You dont want anything to do with jws, their momms, their gardeners or their milkman's first crush. Also for me the rediculousness and cartoon-ness of the bible was just getting too hard to speak of without bursting out laughing in people's faces. And im still thay way about the bible. It really is a stupid book. Its no better than a pile of farts. Old two thousand year old farts that have been lingering way too long and stinking up the earth way too much.

But one day in a church a pastor looked at me and said do you need grace? Only from having been told about grace doctrine from my brothrr who also left the jws I had to say yes. So just slmost out of spite I accepted jesus free gift of grace.soon afterward I started having some amazing experiences. Dreams. Revelations visions premonitions speakin intongues. Some of it was during santo daime ceremonies drinking ayuasca. Dmt. And lsd. And to jwfacts I would offer him a free tfial on these wo derful sight giving medicknes. But many of my spiritual encounters were without any sacrament. I came to belive in jesus as a living spirit. I have very little knowledge about anything. I o ly know what I experienced. The bible means notjing to me and neither do words for that matter. I abandoned my belief for direct ecpefience.

Im not sure you characterize what the watchtower really is saying here to be fair. To say you must be convinced of something is not necessarily saying it must be a conviction. Tos call spmething a convoction these days is to draw up a conotation of unrational fanatisism or fundamentalism. I think the watchtower is correct in this csse and its a non issue to me.

I agree 100%. This whple business of dual fulfillment is such a loaf of crap that self proclaimed scholars have been speculation on is just egotistical slippery slope reactionary bull shit. Oh yeah and the whole bible is about me right? Me and my generation. And part of the rationale for dual fulfillment conveniently enough has to do with the fact thàt jesus prophesied things that did not come true. And jesus cant be wrong right? So he must hsvr been speaking in magical words that have secret double meanings that only siper smart dcholars can figure out. So the reasoning is circular like all reasoning from the bible. Like this: jesus cant be wrong. How do I know? The bible says so. How do I know the bible is true? Cuz jesus said so and jesus cant be wrong. How do you know jesus cant be wrong? Cuz he was super magical enough to make true prophecies. But he made false prophecies. Well look at premise 1. It says jesus cant be wrong. Therefore if kt looks like he made a false lrophecy there must be some other explanation like for instance that part of the prophdcies were meant xto be fulfilled in the first centudy but some would be fulfilled then and NOW. And every single generation since then has claimed to be the last days. It amazes me that grown ups believe that crap.

is the bible really the word of god?

while sitting in my garage having a smoke, i reached up to an old publication (which i keep handy on my shelves).

it was the book stated above.

When this thread was started I had just left jws and transferred to a university from jr college. One of the main ressons I legt jws wss because of the many errors and contradictions in the bible. Even while at bethel I did not believe in the bible. I spent many more years studying it as just a book. Then I decided to experiment with eastern religion and pagan religion. Became atheist for a few years. Then in 2010 I was exposed to Santo Daime an ayuasca drinking christian religion and I met and now believe in jesus. I as subsequently born again in june of 2010. But never even once since i really started studying the bible in depth from an upper division college student perspective have i ever doubted that yhe bible is just filled with crap. The more i have studied it the worse it gets. Even jesus appearing to me face to face made me doubt for a second the extreme stupidity of the bible. Case closed. R I p.
