Blues bro, I think if I were a JW I would want to have a quick alternative ready:
"Hi, we are here to pick up Gerald Jones for lunch! Is he here?"

no soliciting!.
(unless you are someone under the age of 12 selling something sweet, like cookies or candy, at a price not to exceed $2.00, for your scout troop, sports team, or church group.
i?m sympathetic to child slave labor, i like kids, and i like cookies even better.).

i am new here and have been "lurking" for several months.
the discussions have helped me tremendously to break free from the society.
i want to thank you all for your help and heartfelt posts.
WELCOME Kitten whiskers!!
I hadn't read that line "Armageddon is so close you can stick your tongue out and touch it!" here until your post. ROFL!!! That's hilarious!!
I tried so hard to make Jehovah happy. Was as perfect as I could be. Have always felt nothing I do is ever good enough. Whether for my mother or the organization. You know how much we were told we were good for nothing slaves just doing what we ought to, which should always be more, even if we were pioneering, giving up education and didn't have 20 cents to our name.
Reading this, I couldn't help but think of Paul's words in Philippians 3:
If anyone else thinks he has reasons to put confidence in the flesh, I have more: circumcised on the eighth day, of the people of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews; in regard to the law, a Pharisee; as for zeal, persecuting the church; as for legalistic righteousness, faultless...
But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ--the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith.
Thanks for getting brave and persevering. I think you will look back and see that this trial strengthened the good traits that you really believed in at heart.

jordon is hebrew and it means "to descend or flow"....ha~!
not very interesting, .

Don't ask me why anyone would come up with an idea to name a child... Beaver's Stream.
Supposedly (we all are looking for the bright side on this one) it means industrious. But I am no industrious morning person... I often post in my pajamas!!

as a jw we believed he was in power after 1914 .
do other religions believe he rules or will rule "invisibly"?.
and if he is in power, what do you think of his job performance so far?.
When people tack a date like 1914 or whatever for his ruling, they immediately contradict Jesus himself. In Matt 28:18, Jesus said that "all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me." That was right after his resurrection, not 1914. So like greendawn said, Christians believe that Christ has always been ruling "invisibly" because of that authority, and also thru the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
I think the first time I heard about 1914 I tried not to laugh...

i'm feeling gleeful.
i bought (off craigslist) a 1978 mercedes last saturday.
i'm quite happy with it.
Thanks, all.
Yeah, it's fun to drive. I'm still learning the little things that go with a benz. For example, there is an idle adjuster on the dash (I finally learned what the thing was). There are a few strange-looking buttons on the console too, for which I will have to consult the manual.
It is decent, gary. It's got 180k, and the engine is terrific! Very smooth transmission, too. Rides wonderfully. I expect it'll get at least as far as 300k if not further.
I almost feel like that commercial: "Driving is fun again."

When I first looked at the car, it seemed that there was some sign of oxidation starting on the paint job. ( It didn't show in the photos online.) But what the fading white areas on edges of the car turned out to be was somebody's careless buffing--IOW, unremoved wax. The paint is perfectly fine, after 2 hours of washing/ re-waxing. It's a beautiful-looking car.
It's got a few issues to deal with on the inside, but they are not impossible. The engine is great and the car is in wonderful mechanical shape. I got it at a decent price ($3k), so I'm getting the inside fixed right.
Here's a pic of my new baby... but it's my 15-year old son who is drooling.

i was in my truck in town and talking with my sis-in-law whom i met on a side street, and while we were discussing something, she noticed a group of 4 people, 2 women, and two girls, walking up and down the other side of the street, then they got in their car, and stayed there.
so, when she left, i pulled right up next to them, and asked them if they happened to be j.w.'s?
the driver gave me a huge smile, and said, "yes, we are!
LOL @ parakeet!

Thanks, hubert! Yeah, I'll bet that articles like this slowly pave the way for doctrinal change.
(Hey, I wonder if you could print that paragraph here? I'm interested in reading it.)
V, that was very informative too. Thanks for that.

i want to take a minute and remember those who died that tragic, surreal day.
god bless.. .
We surely must do what we can for those whom we can help. But that does not mean we should neglect mourning with those who mourn.
Thanks for starting this thread, Jayhawk.

thankyou for wanting to help.
i believe i have a good chance of winning this lawsuit.
the watchtower lawyers are defendants and have tried three times to have the lawsuit thrown out and have failed.
and it clearly says to take blood in any form
Those verses "clearly" say this? I could not find this phrase "any form" in any of the verses. I think you are reading a great deal into those verses!!
Oh, and are you aware that the WTS has been allowing people to take blood fractions now? It's so tricky, most JWs aren't aware of their current policy. In fact, you can pretty much reconstruct blood almost entirely if you just take it in fractions. How can this be if the Bible clearly disallows any form of blood to be taken into the body in ANY way?
Oh, and by the way... WELCOME to the forum!
