due to my husbands interactions with my mom with questions about the history of the wbts, i received a phone call from her.
(keep in mind she is 72 years a witness).
i brought up the un thing and she said, thats from apostates.
Well, you know the UN was just the wild beast ... but the YMCA is the wild, wild, wild beast!
I'm sure she'd be be leaving if the WTS had joined the YMCA for using the pool.
Really, restrangled, I'm very, very sorry... I just hope that over time (and she doesn't have much left) it becomes unbearable to her. She owes you some big apologies.

i quite inadvertantly met some folks this past weekend that so touched my heart so that i actually stood there and wept---at a cookout at my son's home.
having been quite ill recently, (as most of you know), he had been keeping "an eye" on me all day to make sure i was okay, and he saw me standing with a few people that his neighbor had invited....he saw my tears and could not imagine with everyone laughing and chatting---what had been said to me to make me stand there and weep.
there is no way to describe the love, the caring and the compassion that i was shown (by these strangers) that i was told later are members of the church my grandson attends.
Wow, that's wonderful to hear! Did this new friend name anyone from this board? I hope you will get to meet everyone you hoped! That sounds like a fun convention, too.

i came home to find two sisters standing in my driveway.
they looked at the signs on my car (i do house watching for snow birds here in fl) and wanted to know how to get into the business.
and after i explained all that i said "its a really good business if you are pioneering.
You must have a way with words, and I think those sisters felt it. I loved your response,
"Would you be open to a meeting?" and I quickly pointed out that that ship TOO had sailed baby.

I agree with the others here. I think that more than getting plug-n-play answers from anyone (whether the WTS or us), you will have to exercise that muscle called your mind. I believe God gave us minds for a very good purpose. Gird yourself for a journey, and always be ready to re-evaluate and change course if you believe truth lies in a different direction. I have been finding God faithful, even when it has been dark...

i finally made contact with an exjw sister that i knew while growing up.
let me explain.... when i was young(pre-teen to late teens), my family met at her parents house for book study.
her family was always considered one of the more "spiritual" families in the hall, if not the entire surrounding area.
Looking forward to seeing S post, if she is willing. How cool to re-connect. How galling that she was maligned like that.

You are such a sharp cookie and you express yourself very well, and I have always appreciated your posts (even when I disagreed with you). Like you, I have learned a lot from this sight about how to listen more and the art of disagreeing gracefully. You seem like an old friend to me (though I know that many others here know you much, much better than I do)--comfortable to be with, and very honest.
Hope that you'll be here another 3 years, and that very soon the glimmer of hope you see now will be as a sunny day.

although less insistent in having the 'truth', and showing much greater interest in people and reality, the thinking is so similar to the doctrines of the watchtower it is a little scary.
Their creed is just like the witnesses in that you must accept "the Holy Catholic Church and the Communion of Saints"
...meaning, the universal church, not necessarily the Roman Catholic (universal) church.
