I had pain perdue at Mimi's Cafe once, with lightly sweetened cream cheese and orange marmalade inside.
I love good breakfast recipes.

for company, i'll fix a tender, flaky crust and bake a creamy, cheesy quiche with either, bacon, canadian bacon or ham and top it with diced tomatoes w/green chilies and sour cream.. but just by myself, i lurv to fix hot buttered toast, topped with egg over easy and tomatoes w/green chilies...yummy!.
what's your fav?.

"pain perdue"! --Otherwise known as stuffed French toast.
Muffins, especially blueberry. But they must be made from scratch, and not cake-y.
Crullers. Yogurt with whipped cream.
And there is a wonderful sausage/egg/cheese breakfast casserole...

this should be a proud and happy time in my life as a mom.
:( on top of everything else in my life these days...im in the process of planning a sweet sixteen party for my little girl for may 12, and my oldest son graduates from high school on may 18 followed by a party i am trying to have for him on may 26 followed by my daughter's four dance company recitals the weekend of june 1. also my youngest sons birthday is this sunday..... so...i spent days designing and mailing out gorgeous graduation invitations to everybody i know and all our wacked relatives.
i wrote to the jws in advance and asked if they would please put their differences aside for one night to celebrate my son's achievements.
I would be tempted to send them all a thank you note, something like this:
Dear (list every crazy relative's name on every card, so they know how many people are being rude),
I just wanted to thank you for being so kind and considerate. Our oldest son is graduating, which is one of the very biggest occasions for a young man (apart from marriage and children), and every single one of you has refused to attend. Not one of his own relatives will be attending this party in his honor. Not even one.
Thank you, my family, very much. For nothing.
I hope such a note would shock them with shame. I truly hope so.

hey all,.
there are a few "what damage did the watchtower do to you?
"-type threads floating about, and it's easy to get sort of down over it all.
I emailed my english instructor from college (technical college) and asked if I may use her as a reference and if she remembered me. She replied with, and I quote, "Of course I remember you. You are indelibly imprinted in my mind as my BEST student in 20 years of teaching at MATC." (This just made my whole week.)
Hey wait a minute!! That MATC instructor told ME that she would never have a student as amazingly brilliant I was, period.

PS: Congrats!
the elders cames to my home on saturday and i didn't answer the door, so they told my sister to relay the message.
the message was "you know what it's about, we're going to make the announcement next meeting".
i knew it was coming...but it feels so weird.
I really wish I could of met with some of you, to share these feelings we all have in common.
ToL, if you are in Alberta I believe that there are a lot of folks from this board up there. It's very likely that you may meet quite a few if you wish. Apostafests are ways to meet folks, too.

15 years ago my father-in-law had triple by-pass surgery, and we were told that the average life expectancy after such an operation was 5 years.
He turns 72 today, and is in great health!

...Well, it's good news to us, though none of us have ever been JWs...
i have been emailing with a sister in my congregation regarding the qfr.
i told her i wasn't discussing it with most jws, because i didn't want to hear any of their "new light" garbage.
i told her this isn't new light; this just means that what we paraded out in 1935 as "new light" was wrong.. she sheepishly (no pun intended) agreed.
Thanks Gary. Hard to believe I missed such a good thread.

need a high quality scan of the whole qfr article as the scan below is very poor quality.
i want to have something decent to give to my dub friends as they don't really know much about their own religion.
What do they say about the ones who believed themselves anointed and partook, and were admonished by elders? Should the anointed have bowed to the pressure of elders and GB to not partake? Or should they have always obeyed their conscience toward God? How can the JWs have it both ways--to promote themselves as always being willing to suffer for their private conscience, and to let the WTS tell them whether can even have a conscience?? That's some kind of handicapped 'anointed'.

The Watch Tower Society only has one product to sell . . . themselves. The Society doesn't have an exclusive on Jesus Christ, or Yahweh, or the Bible . . . they only have an exclusive on their claim to be the "channel", also known as, "The Spirit Directed Organization". This is the cornerstone, the concept that makes the wheel go round.
The Society spends their time and money on fixing problems and supporting their weaknesses. Their biggest weakness is their only product . . . their claim to divine guidance. The talks and articles hammer on "obey the Governing Body". The assemblies this summer have the theme "Follow The 'Christ'". Of course "The Christ" is reduced to the Governing Body. The real theme of assemblies is follow (obey) the Governing Body.
They want Witnesses to "obey" them, not follow them. If the Witnesses "followed" the Governing Body literally, everybody would be wearing IBM business suits sitting in New York city with servants and running a billion dollar business.
Wow. You tell'em, Gary.
I am going to look up the QFR --hopefully it's here on the board--and see exactly what was written there. Of course, if anyone wants to add a scan...
