Having a guilty conscience and maybe I should go back to JW

i have read the new wt and am thinking of going back.

i believe a lot of the teachings and i see what is going on .

i just feel a lot of confusion right now.

The pastor at our church today made the comment that all our unrest grows from our hunger to know that we are deeply and thoroughly loved. Wow. I think that's pretty much it!

If that is the message from God through Christ is all about (Christ died for us while we were sinners) then we will have nothing to fear. Drink it in and bask in it. That love will transform you beyond whatever you might ever do on your own.

Hmm.

If our physical noses and ears and eyes (etc) have provided sensory abilities for a physical world, and these senses are experienced in our brains...

We will also obviously end up brainless!

--Or, just have other means of experiencing the kinds of sensations that our physical brains afford. And then some.

Preaching work - What other religion preaches??

i know the mormons go door to door and i have seen some church of god people occasionally.

who else has organized preaching ministries (door to door, etc.)?

i'm in an ongoing dialogue with relatives and this is one of their contentions - that the witnesses must have the truth (despite the many fallacies) because they are the only one that go door to door preaching.

Through use by The JESUS Film Project, and more than 1,500 Christian agencies, this powerful film has had more than 6 billion viewings worldwide since 1979. On top of that, the great majority of those heard the story of Jesus in a language they easily understand.

The site claims that over 200 million have become Christians as a result of this particular kind of "broadcasting" of the gospel.

2. How about Discipling a Whole Nation? (DAWN) www.dawnministries.org

(It even looks like these guys have a ministry of sending newsletters house to house, called house2house! )

New Experience: I went to a Christmas service at a church Monday night....

it was my wife's sister's church, a lutheran church.

i wanted to see my neice's sing in the choir and also just to take in the whole experience.

i have been married for 4 years (to non-jw woman) and have only participated in christmas activities breifly.

Christmas Eve mass is one of my favorite things. I was unable to attend this year, unfortunately!

When I was growing up, we'd go in at 11:30 pm and sing carols with a packed church for 30 minutes. The singing was very enthusiastic and beautiful, with the lights down very low and decorations everywhere. Then the priests would come in by candlelight, a very long procession. Everyone was bursting with anticipation for midnight.

I haven't attended one locally yet, but I hope to next year. The joy of Christmas is absolutely palpable at a Christmas Eve mass!

my rest was disturbed by a midnight phone call from a goblin who did not stay on the line - ass!

now i look outside at 0130 as i prepare to leave to my job, which is outside in the elements.

it is pouring down rain and the wind is blowing about 35 miles an hour.

Church of the Nazarene (edit to FRIENDS OF THE NAZARENE)

I attend one where I live. It's pretty darn mainstream, theologically speaking, and I've attended many denominations as I've moved about. Nazarenes are not exclusive like JWs, don't shun, and don't emotinally abuse people if they decide to go elsewhere. They share the same basic creeds with the rest of Christendom and practice open communion like many churches do. They encourage discussion and learning so there's a lot of variation, even inside one church. They do emphasize "holiness", which can (did) get bent around into pharisaism depending upon the time/region. In earlier years, I think holiness was equated to having a particular religious experience, but today holiness is promoted more an attitude of dedication (kinda like being married is a type of dedication).

Perhaps you are thinking of the Seventh Day Adventists? They have a common root with the JWs. I think there are some SDAs on the board, too.
