Interesting Topic. I hear my son Thomas, a JW in the Cleveland area has learned Chinese and is is now speaking the language fluently. He's supposedly teaching a book study in the Chinese Congregation.
I do think Thomas is the exception though; In college, he hung out with the Asian Students in his residence hall and enjoyed their company more than the White students.

the wts has sent a letter to all convention overseers expressing their increasing concern at sisters "directing brothers" at district conventions.. with immediate effect (ie for dc 2008), sisters are no longer to be used as volunteers in parking and security / watchman departments.
any sisters volunteering in other departments (eg toilet cleaning) must be subordinate & follow the direction of appointed brothers.
this move will put a huge burden on the dcs in my area - nearly half the volunteers for parking are sisters and there aren't enough volunteers as it is.
I've never understood the big deal about Brothers handling a Mike. I guess it made them feel Manly and In Control.
It's no wonder I didn't make it as a JW; I grew up with brothers and learned how to do my own Plumbing using a torch and run a variety of Power tools. I pitched a fit years ago when they wouldn't let sisters help with the building of a new Kingdom Hall in our area. All we were permitted to do was cook for the men. The elders told my husband to keep me under control. LOL
one of my first cousins who i grew up with has a bad cancer.
her mother died last year.
we were close when we were kids back in the 40's and 50's.

a band i really liked a lot growing up and as an adult was he moody blues.
their mixing of orchestration from an instrument called the " mellotron " and mixing the orchestration with electric guitars was fantastic.
they wrote very meaningful lyrics analyzing the situations in life as well as the world scene at the time.
I've been to numerous Moody Blues Concerts with my hubby. He knows all of their songs never seems to get enough of them. I enjoy watching Justin Hayward play his red guitar.
Oh, and they have a new girl with the band. She is a real treat.
