  What is my problem......

  i just got back from a church talent show that my cousin was in.

  but when i hear songs such as " open the eyes of my heart lord" , " i can only imagine" or "jesus take the wheel" why does it make me want to run for the hills?

  i hard the hardest time enjoying the song and ignoring the words.

  It could also be your Ingrained revulsion to all religions outside of Jehovah's Witnesses.

  Perhaps it's because those songs are popular with today's Christians. Almost cultlike.

  Actually, I like these new songs much more than I like the kingdom melodies. :-)

  call him an elitist if you will, but he simply voiced an honest observation.

  in rural pa, many people tend to vote based on the fear that the dems will force them to have abortions, confiscate their hunting rifles, burn their bibles, and make interracial gay marriages mandatory for their children.

  economic stimulus and improved educational opportunities be damned!.

  Scariest Movie you have ever seen?

  i know as exjws, probably for the most, there was a secret freedom in watching horror films without thinking you would have a demon as a bed buddy.. i am not very fond of every horror movie, but i will watch those that have an intelligent side to it and is not gore for the sake of gore.

  like "the ring" got me going when i first watched it, just like "the blair witch project" did, which is more about suspense.

  anyway, i never saw any of the saw movies, so i am going to try to watch saw iii tonight, since it is on showtime.

  I found many of them to be extremely trusting. Some were able to question and as a consequence grow. Others felt comfortable. I have a son with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering, yet he went back to the Vomit of the Watchtower. He's extremely intelligent yet he needed this comfort zone.

  I finally Left!

  i would like to give the full details of my leaving the jw's, but i don't have a lot of time at this moment.

  basically i was raised in the organization and it drove me pretty insane bacause my father was an elder, mother a pioneer, sister a bethelite, etc.

  so, i did the whole thing for a long time.

  i used to regularly get calls from my mom (she rarely confronted me face to face for some reason) about my leaving "da troof" and most often, her lectures were met with my silence - i didnt have the confidence to answer her back as to why i left and refused to return.

  now - almost 7 months are regularly reading and posting on jwd, i am angry and just itching for an opportunity for me to tell her what i have learned and discovered.

  the relief at discovering that i wasn't alone is indescribable!

  I think your mother may be afraid of what you would say because it would make her "think" ~ Many JWs tend to hide under the Covers when Confronted with reality; they prefer the Darkness.

  Please find comfort knowing she is still in contact with you. That is Precious more than you know.

  There was one Elder here in Columbus who really knew how to give an interesting talk. He was creative and sincere.

  Now He runs Tower Watch, an Ex-JW Christian website.
