Governing Body meetings
by JWOP injohannes greber's book "communication with the spirit word of god -- it's laws and purpose" states that, in order to seek god's truth one must cummunicate with the spirit world on a regular basis.
according to the governing body, they get their teachings from those who have died and been resurrected to heaven (the watchtower, jan. 1, 2007, p.28, para.11).
also, it was published that the gb meets on a regular basis, every wednesday (the watchtower, may 15, 2008, p.29).

Sir82 – Duly noted.
NWT by Fred Franz? Was he a linguistic scholar? How did he accomplish this? Did he have actual scholars’ help? Anyone know?
OneEyedJack – Thanks for the insight.
IMHO translators not knowing Hebrew or Greek benefits the WT. It makes it almost impossible for translators to cross reference their work against the originals and easier for the WT to make subtle changes.

Ever since I can remember just about every JW I knew would make remarks such as “Our bible is translated by scholars from the original Greek and Hebrew scriptures.” And “our bible is the most accurate translation there is.” Well, maybe not…
Anyone else read this manual? I just had a face-in-palm moment!
I only skimmed through the manual, however this stood out...
Chapter 25
Translation
“46. BIBLE TRANSLATION.... It is not necessary for Bible translators to know Hebrew and Greek. They do not necessarily have to be the translators with the most experience…”
Knowledge of these languages is NOT necessary? No experience necessary? That defies common sense!
And this …
“48. However, if there is a specific need for the New World Translation, as when a particular point in question is made only by it, then the verse may be translated from it. If just one word or phrase from the New World Translation is inserted in the text, it should be placed in brackets [], and the New World Translation should be cited in italics inside the brackets as the source. For example: “The Lord [“Jehovah,” NW] is my shepherd.” Whenever passages are translated directly from the New World Translation, the translators should keep a file of these scriptures as they have been rendered into the vernacular. By using this file, such scriptures will be rendered consistently in the future. The file should be accessible to all the translators, either on cards or electronically. If duplicate files need to be kept for use by translators outside Bethel, all of these should be kept up to date.”
So, is this is where they imply it’s OK to change the scriptures?
And this…
“50. CONFIDENTIALITY: It is important that translators keep their work confidential. Apart from the responsible brothers and those involved in the project, others (including marriage mates and other Bethelites) do not need to know (a) what is being translated and (b) who is translating a particular item. No publication should ever be associated with a particular person. This is especially so in the case of Bible translators. This confidentiality protects both the organization and the translators.”
…“protects both the organization and the translators”….hmmm, in case someone finds out what? That scriptures were changed to fit current doctrine?

As some may know, during the Conti Case, it came into question whether the abuser was an Ordained Minister within the congregation. In fact, one of the lawyers for the WT said in his opening statement of Jury Trial- Day One that WT is not responsible because this was “not a case where the pastor or clergy or religious leader perpetrated some of this. It was a rank and file member.” He went on to describe the abuser, a Ministerial Servant, as simply an USHER/ATTENDANT or rank and file memeber.
According to WT, Ministerial Servants are ORDAINED MINISTERS…
This is from the “Branch Organization” manual, February 2003, US Edition
Chapter 4
Congregations, Circuits, Districts
5. CERTIFICATE FOR ORDAINED MINISTER : Currently appointed elders or ministerial servants in need of a certificate verifying their ordination may request one
from the branch. When requesting a certificate, the individual will specifically state the reason the certificate is needed. Often a letter signed by the elders or the presiding overseer of the congregation will suffice to verify one’s ordination. If a Certificate for Ordained Minister is sent by the branch, it should be signed by the Branch Committee coordinator or someone else having authority to do so. It may be notarized if advisable. If it is necessary to specify the date of ordination, then show the date of baptism.
Notgoinback posted the pdf download on his thread…long read but very revealing about EVERYTHING.

Unless WT has changed their policy regarding this, (so what else is new?) then this makes this creep oficially an ordained minister.
